Although the tab cannot be adjusted up or down easily, this is an appropriate hat for emerging 4th graders. It is good to have a padded neck. There are ways to make the process smoother.

Gets too long

The strap is not as nice as it could be. The 12th century I am unable to make it short enough for my 8-year-old son to play his saxophone comfortably. It had to be taken off and he had to use a different one until he grew into the "kids'".

The padding on this strap was great as well. A new one is on the way! The straps are reasonably priced and far more comfortable than their average counterparts.
