Because no instrument case can protect an instrument from the cold or the heat, it is critical not to leave an instrument such as an oboe outside in the cold. Instruments that are kept in the cold weather and have any type of moisture in them from playing will crack if it gets cold enough; similarly, if you leave an instrument in the hot weather and it gets extremely hot, the instrument will crack, whether it's a wood instrument or a plastic instrument, and welded parts will snap in two separate orders.

This is a fantastic oboe case. My oboe came with a small "french"-style case that seemed to overcrowd the instrument. I swapped it out for this one, which is a little bigger and has more room between the pieces. In this case, I'm storing a Fox model 300 full conservatory oboe, and none of the keywork has failed to fit. The external pocket has some internal zip pockets for small items like cork grease, extra reeds, and so on. Another subtle advantage of the external pocket is that you always know which way is "up" on the case and you never open it upside down accidentally, resulting in tumbling instrument parts falling to the floor. (been there, done that)br>br>The only criticism I have of the case is that it has two ribbons that prevent it from completely opening when it is opened. They almost never let it open far enough for the weight of the lid to keep the unit open, so I have to fight the lid from falling down while putting the oboe together. I'm thinking about removing the ribbons to see if that helps.
I got it as an Amazon return for a lower price than the regular price; I'm not sure why anyone would return it, because it's perfect for my middle school student. Our previous oboe case was destroyed by the daily rigors of middle school life, but this one is fantastic! It's light, tough, and cushioned to protect the delicate instrument it holds.
Not for me, but for my son, so what I noticed is that the weight is balanced in such a way that it falls backwards when you try to place your instrument inside. For the price, everything else appears to be in order.
The only thing I didn't like about it is that the top won't stay up when you open it to take out your oboe. This irritates me a great deal. Everything else, on the other hand, is fantastic!.
I bought this for my daughter as a Christmas present. She put her oboe in right away and had no problems, though she still needs to add the longer strap. We'll have to wait and see how things turn out. I'd suggest it.
It had been 5 years and it had been pretty good. My oboe stayed in this case for about a year and a half. It had been 5 years and it had been pretty good. My only gripe is that the Velcro on the straps has worn out and no longer adheres to the body. This poses no danger to the oboe, but it is inconvenient.
It's well-made, but it's not too heavy.
