Selected User Reviews For Dr Thomastik Contra Bass Strings (S42)

We always have been and always will be the best! Over the years, I have tried several different string types on upright bass for most of my life
5/5

It is always Spirocore Mitells S42 in the end that I return to. string lengths are full sized strings, but they are most commonly used on 3/4 size basses (since few people play full size basses). They are actually full sized strings, but they are most commonly used on 3/4 size basses. consider these strings to have the most diverse sound palette according to what you play, and how you play it, you can get a "your sound" out of Furthermore, they have a very significant "growl" characteristic that jazz players use. In addition to their harmonic response, these strings must also be balanced You can be heard much better because they "cut through" the band/mix much better. As an upright bassist, I feel it is more important to be heard clearly and distinct rather than to use a string that emphasizes the dark and muddy notes My opinion is that there are two strings that have the best qualities and can produce an iconic sound that most players are looking for Gut string is also known as spirocore Mittell (or Weich). Personally, I like the spirocore sound, and I believe most wannabe gut-rockers do not have the same quality as the real deal Strings made of synthetic materials do not really sound like guts. They feel stiff and have a plastic sound to me, especially on my left hand. I find the synthetic strings to have a plasticy sound, as well as a stiff feel to them. The Spirocore Mittells string can have high tension for some players, and over the years I have wondered if there was a string that would deliver similar performance with lower You must cope with the slightly higher tension, but it is a small price to pay for higher sound quality. Another thing that I want to emphasize is the longevity of these strings. Oh, and one more thing. . . no other strings I have experienced seem to have the same "thump" and "punch" to their sound, except perhaps Spirocore Stark, which I have not experienced. Thus, I'd like to suggest that you shop around for different strings and spend hundreds or even thousands on experimenting, but they always come back around to the Spirocore Mittell upright string, because they are regarded as the best all-around Save some money by choosing this string, and you'll never look back. All you have to do is learn how to play this string. It has been noticed that there is a treble-type sound emanating from the G string of this set. Whatever it is, it has to be whiney, slim, In spite of the fact that these strings have a "zing" to them, it is primarily observed on the "g. " However, what you hear at the bass is not always the same as what is heard in front of an audience or band.
