The game is not my cup of tea. A friend lent this to me for years and it lost the tuner on the E string, so I bought a cheap set to make it work again. The only thing I needed was Its easy to install and a great value for the money. It is unlikely that some of the people who claim it doesn't fit their violins have a clue how to disassemble the tuner. That's all there is to it. In order to place it under the tail piece and into the string hole, first unscrew the gold tuning screw and remove it, then remove the gold nut as well. Put it back together after that. The E string I was using had a loop end, therefore I had to cut one to wrap around the end to fix the problem. It has worked perfectly so far and the tuner does what it is supposed to do.
For various instruments, I purchased three of these sets. Because some of the negative reviews, I purchased extras in case some did not work, but all worked. Great quality and bargain price. I installed them on all my violins that had missing fine tuners, including a baritone instrument (which uses As well as looking great, they are very comfortable.
A fine tuner was only on the high string of an old fiddle that I bought these for. It wasn't an expensive pair of shoes, so I can't really complain that they looked cheap, but they could do a better job on the proportions to keep them affordable and look good. If made for a violin, the threaded part should be substantially thicker, and it should be shorter. Having said that, I saw the violin almost every once in a while since it was an old student violin.
My new strings were too short to fit into them, and once I managed to get them seated on the tailpiece I was having trouble tuning, so I ended up placing them back on the tailpiece instead of in the fine tuners and putting the fine tuners in my case storage compartment. There was a lot of disappointment on my part.
It seems like a fine product, except that the parts of my violin are older, which might be the reason for their failure. Because of the way the tail piece is made, the height of the part where the string ball locks in is too low, or the distance between the tail piece and the spinners is not far enough. This item is being returned, and I am placing an order for something else.
The METAL and high quality Fine Tuners are exceptional! Invest in the real thing, not in the cheap plastics. This tuner adjusts smoothly, like a fine piece of machinery, and can accept the Ball End Strings without problems at all. They were highly recommended! (The plastic version of these wouldn't work with ball end strings. )
I highly recommend.
It has been a long time since I used Whittner, but it is an expensive brand, so I wanted to try another. As old wisdom has it, it is the quality of the product that matters. It's not a good fit for my violin, and the handle does not provide a good grip. The length is shorter Tuning was impossible since I could not keep the string in place.
I bought it for an old violin that needed some repair work. There is a pleasing aesthetic appearance to the overall design. I really like the solid feel of these. The complaints have not been received. There is one area, however, in which I prefer fine tuning screws over others. My preferred size would be slightly smaller, as they appear to be a bit larger than other items I've purchased. However, it is more straightforward for beginners, especially those with larger fingers, to tune their violins with this method. However, the overall quality of the product is excellent. I'm so proud of you!.
