Sky installed a 4/4 full violin maple bridge, but I'm not sure how to measure the size. 12", 13", 14", 15", 16", 17", 18", 19", 20", 21", 22", 23", 24 5"?

I'm not sure I can help you with the exact measurements because math isn't my strong suit, but the violin I bought it for was a 4/4 violin, so I'd recommend checking the violin you have if possible, or perhaps a luthier could.

What are the dimensions of this 1/2 cello bridge in terms of height and width?

I actually purchased a 4/4ths size bridge, which had to be carved to fit my cello by a luthier.

Keep an eye on how they're sitting on your cello. You'll need a blank sheet of paper. This bridge is not one of them. My daughter's cello needed a new bridge, so I ordered this one. The bridge was constantly slipping because it had a chip removed from it. br>br>Believing I could do it myself, I looked up how to put a bridge together and discovered it was a little more difficult than I had anticipated. So I took it to a stringed instrument repair shop near my home, which cares for professional musicians in the Washington, D. C. area. There are highly experienced luthiers on staff, and they work with a number of orchestras in the area (including the National Symphony Orchestra). br>br>The luthier took one look at this bridge and said it was unusable on my cello because it was 1) too short, 2) not fitted to the cello (which is what he does), and 3) the thickness of the legs was too thin to carve any more stock out to custom fit it. I was perplexed. br>br> If all cello tops are different (which they are), how could a company that makes them know what brand of cello you have and tailor one to fit it without even seeing or touching it? His response was straightforward: "They're not going to be able to," says the narrator They mass-produce these to fit a cello of their choosing, and because they do so, they can claim that the cello is "fitted"" - which is precisely what the vendor claims. This is NOT a "fitted" bridge. br>br> They are, but they will never be seen mounted on a cello. They could possibly work together. They're not going to fit, most likely. Your cello's legs will not be perfectly conformed to the top. As a result, they are unlikely to transmit sound well and will most likely slip. br>br>According to the luthier, all that is required is a "blank" - a bridge that has not been tampered with in any way, as it will need to be custom carved to fit your cello by an experienced hand. They coordinate with the cello top by matching the legs. They'll then carve grooves into the top to keep the strings in place. br>br>Unfortunately, I placed this order over the summer, assuming that I would be able to complete it in time for the start of the school year. I'm left with a worthless piece of wood that I'll most likely use as kindling for my fireplace now that I've gone past the return window. br>br>It was a horrible experience. It was a complete waste of time and money on my part.

I purchased two of these in order to improve the sound of my children's student violins, and they were of different shapes! One doesn't have much of an arch at all. Quality control is a disaster. If you look closely, you'll notice that the thickness of the growth rings varies a lot, which is a bad thing. As the vibrations pass through the bridge and into the body, the tone will change. THIS PRODUCT SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS.

The original bridge was too low, causing the strings to buzz against the fingerboard; however, this bridge is pre-installed. It's cut to a standard, complete with string grooves, but it might not fit right out of the box because every cello is different. I sanded the feet to match the curvature of my cello with a piece of sandpaper and a luthier's sanding tool. I remade the string notches after shortening the top by a few millimeters to the proper string height. It now fits perfectly, and the buzzing has stopped! It actually sounds a lot better. The cello is more responsive, and it was delivered quickly and in good condition.

To get a finished fit, I anticipated having to carve and adjust the bridge. I was completely mistaken. The bridge's feet were incredibly comfortable to walk on. I made a few scribe marks parallel to the length of the feet to keep the bridge from slipping. After that, I installed the bridge. I didn't have to carve anything because the feet are perfectly cut. The string spacing is perfect, and it only took about 15 minutes to complete the installation. The tone has a bit more depth to it. This product is fantastic; the fit, form, and tonal results are far superior to what I had anticipated. The money spent on this bridge was well spent. This bridge is far more comfortable to use than the one that came with my cello.

A bridge for a cello isn't something you can just buy

There are no shortcuts when it comes to playing the cello; the bridge must be perfectly aligned. The length, width, and how it should fit into the cello flesh's base. Everything is important. I guarantee this bridge will not fit if you purchase it. Cellos aren't all the same size. If you don't want to pay a lutier because you're a cheapskate, find another instrument; it'll just be a part of playing the cello. After breaking her second bridge, an adult learner.

For a beginner violin, this is an excellent replacement bridge

After a couple of shops refused to sell a replacement without a professional fitting, I bought this bridge for my teenaged son's full-size violin. This one had the same profile as his old bridge and was very simple to install. I didn't have to do anything with it because it was already shaped. br>The entry-level violin cost under $300. For a concert-quality violin, I'd probably get a professional fitting, but this one is perfect for a beginner.

"Fitted" is a relative term

It was anticipated that it could be used in its current state, but it still requires some work before it can be used. The stand should be adjusted to fit the instrument body, and the quality should be acceptable after using sand paper. However, the position they created for the G and E strings is skewed to the side, not in the right place as I expected. I tried to fix it, but it was too difficult. It would be far better if the bridge was blank.

My standard violin fits perfectly in this case. br>There was a clean 1/2mm string clearance at the nut after very light sanding of the feet to fit the violin's top. br>I quickly purchased two more in case they were needed in the future, and they should last the rest of my life. br>Thank you for a fantastic product.
