These don't work in any way.
I don't have a half on me to try it on, but it should work with any violin.
No, I don't think that's true. I'm using them on my 3/4 and 4/4 violins and they're great.

in honor of your violin Reduces the reverberation of the sound. Isn't this a given? br>br>Isn't it? This is also the proper orchestral mute to use. br>br> There isn't a mute for practice. The traditional "full bridge" mute mutes a lot less than this one. When Hilary Hahn is the soloist, the first violinist uses this. br>br>I simply store it beneath the bridge until I need it. It seems to spend an eternity on my violin.
I'm a f$$$$$$$$$$$$ @’d. For a performance, I needed it right away. The mute's purpose is to ensure that the bridge is tightly straddled. This mute's "tonsil" (or whatever tiny part is supposed to go over the bridge) is stuck so close to the main body that it won't even go over it. Because of my poor vision, I simply kept pushing it against the bridge until it fell over. The sound post was then knocked out of place. It was necessary to take it to a luthier for repairs. Later, upon closer inspection, I discovered the product to be completely defective; I attempted to open the tonsil part, but it refused to open, and the rubber appears to be brittle and susceptible to breaking. I mean, it’s cheap, but I don t understand how the manufacturer can f%*- It's impossible to take a simple product any further than this. Please, Amazon, exercise quality control and refrain from selling any random garbage.
I've been playing for 30 years and these were by far the worst mutes I've ever used. They're extremely thick and difficult to navigate onto the bridge- Partly due to the thickness, but also due to the poorly placed cuts/holes. They function as a mute, but they were not designed to be used with a violin. These could have been for a viola, perhaps.
I bought these for my 5-string fiddle as a way to muffle it a little more while I practice, but the mutes are not properly molded, as other reviewers have mentioned. They should be trimmed down a little - They're simple to adjust if you have an Xacto knife.
None of the three in my package had a slot that would fit on my bridge. When I tried to fit one on my bridge, it collapsed, ruining my violin's varnish. I wish the company would cover the cost of repairing the varnish. Some mutes didn't even have slits cut in them to allow them to sit on the strings.
I don't recommend this mute because when I tried to install it on my bridge, it collapsed due to how difficult it was to install. It's not fit for a violin and it's not stretchy at all.
They're some of the stiffest mutes I've ever used, but they get the job done. Except for the time my bridge collapsed while trying to get the mute on during a dress rehearsal. Aside from that, they're fine; they get a little less stiff with time, but not much.
On my bridge, they're a little tight. This, I believe, is due to the fact that they are more difficult than they need to be. br>br>A small change would be beneficial, but we shouldn't have to. br>br>Instead, I reverted to using my old wire mute.
