How Our Score Is Calculated

Product Description

LEARN TO PLAY WITH OUR NOTE GUIDE: Fantastic Finger Guides take the mystery out of learning the notes on the cello and serve as a useful visual aid for improving your musical ear by assisting you in learning the notes quickly.
GREAT FOR BEGINNER AND INTERMEDIATE LEVELS: Students who use our guides learn the language of music from the very first lesson, and gradually build knowledge of the notes with each subsequent lesson.
STICKERS ARE EASY TO USE: Each note decal has self-adhesive on the back so the notes don't move around while you're playing your instrument, and the sticker comes off without leaving a sticky mess once you've learned your notes.
IMPROVES FINGERBOARD NAVIGATION: Our patented two-color, three-shape design (with triangles for open strings, squares for natural notes, and blue ovals for sharp/flat notes), position numbers on one side to shift into more advanced positions, and a sharp/flat direction indicator help you navigate the fingerboard more easily.
NOTE THE DIFFERENCE: Weston's Fantastic Finger Guides were developed over a number of years by an orchestra teacher who wanted a practical yet entertaining way for his own middle school orchestra students to learn their notes.

Questions & Answers

Is it possible to use these with a five-string banjo?

The cello is his instrument. A, D, G, and C are the four strings.

Will a 7/8 cello work with either size?

Sorry, neither of these are suitable for a cello of the size 7/8. The only recommendation is to purchase a 4/4 cello and then cut it into strips. You can use a tuner to determine where the strips should be laid.

I'm looking for your 4/4 size, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. ?

Most musical instrument stores sell a 4/4 cello.

Is it possible to play 3/4 on a cello that is 7/8 scale?

Thank you very much for your query. There is currently no 7/8 guide available. Several customers have successfully used a tuner to place the notes after cutting the finger guide into strips on the 4/4 size cello guide. They use a pencil to mark the in tune spots, then slide the strips up with two hands, starting where the bridge and fingerboard meet, and laying the strips down over the markings. I would suggest using the 4/4 cello guide instead of the 3/4 cello guide because the width of the strings will be different in 4/4 versus 7/8, but the locations should be close enough to learn the notes properly.

It was both informative and correct
5/5

Warning: Make sure it's properly adhered; once it's in place, it's not going anywhere! That's fine because I followed the directions and put it on properly. br>br>So, after almost 15 years of not playing, I finally dug out the cello from storage, especially since the entire world is currently on lockdown due to the current crisis. Pandemic number 19 has arrived. What better way to pass the time in quarantine than to brush up on your cello skills? The disadvantage is that I used to be able to play exceptionally well not long ago- The fingering tapes and pencil marks on the fingerboard are long gone, and I knew I'd need some help, so I looked for it online, and wow, did I find it. Just wow. If it weren't for this sticker, I wouldn't be able to play a scale in tune. It isn't brightly colored or appealing to the eye. Like the others, it's eye-catching and extremely useful for 1) knowing where your fingers should go and 2) knowing what note you're playing. It also aids in relearning how to read music because, thanks to reason 2, you know what note you're playing.

Excellent guide, but do not follow the instructions provided
5/5

This is great for beginners, but it's a pain to set up, and I'm still working on getting rid of the bubbles. br>br>Here are a few helpful hints that weren't included in the instructions:

- Loosen your strings as much as possible; otherwise, you'll be constantly trying to peel it off under tight strings with just your fingers, assuming you can get it under them at all.

- Chopsticks are an excellent choice. To slide it under the strings and keep it off the fingerboard, place one sideways in the upper quadrant and one parallel to the other in the lower quadrant on the sticky side, then position the decal and roll off the top chopstick—the weight of the bottom chopstick helps keep it from sticking. Position and stick the bottom chopstick, then roll it off, straighten it, and stick it. br>br>Alternatively, you could position the sticker with the backing, peel off the top, place it, and then roll the backing off. Unfortunately, I tried to follow instructions, and by the time I realized what I should have done, the backing had already come off, and the decal had creased all over it.

WARNING: Spacing is incorrect
3/5

The gap between the first and second fingers is correct, as is the gap between the third and fourth, but the gap between the second and third is too large, causing all of the lower notes to be incorrect. I was disappointed when I discovered this because I had already applied the product to my cello, and if it weren't for this flaw, this product would be a 5 star no-brainer. A tuner was used to confirm the results.

Installing it was simple enough, but the intonation was off
3/5

It was simple to put together, but some of the fingers have incorrect intonation. For example, finger 1 and 4 are fine, but finger 3 is sharp, indicating that the spacing on this product is incorrect; I'm extremely disappointed, and my previous solution of simply using electrical tape worked better than this product.

Previous reviews are accurate, and a luthier and a tuner both confirmed that the intonation is off
3/5

I was very excited to receive the product because it reminded me of some electric cellos with similar markings on the board. Installation was not difficult, but it did require finesse. The instructions are incorrect for applying any type of sticker to a surface, and bubbles are unavoidable due to its shape; if I had thought about it before installing it, I would have done it myself rather than waste $15. br>br>As you can see in the photo, the installation went well, and I was able to get rid of the majority of the bubbles by using string. However, I can confirm that the intonation is off, as has been stated in other reviews. I could tell something wasn't quite right after a few scales. I double-checked the placement as well as the tuning. The positioning of the C and G strings is precise. br>br>I took the cello to my luthier to have new D'addarios installed, and she called me shortly afterward to say that the "markers" I had placed were incorrect, and she couldn't figure out how to move them. br>br>I am extremely dissatisfied with this product because I previously owned personal markers that were ideal for me. Now I have to figure out how to get rid of it without harming the cello or making a sticky mess. Please do not buy this product; instead, have a luthier apply markers with tape or look for another option.

Is it nice, but it's a little too pricey? I'm confident it will perform as expected, but the setup was odd
4/5

The whole thing had a cocky vibe to it. The "strings" are eyed to keep them vertical, and if any of the printed graphics bend, they crack and flake away. At the end of the day, I'm confident that it performs as expected and will undoubtedly assist, and that it is especially beneficial to beginners. However, it appears to be a lot for what you get.

This sticker has a lot of adhesion
3/5

It was extremely difficult to place this on my daughter's cello because the moment even the tiniest portion of the sticker became caught, it stuck and was extremely difficult to remove and reposition.

useful
4/5

However, the plastic begins to separate from the string after a while. action on the frets It's a pain to install without removing your strings, which is inconvenient because it's a hassle. I'd like the indications on the sticker to line up perfectly, but they don't.
