In short, yes. Buying this to go with my 15 is the right purchase for me. For my son, I have purchased five Yamaha violas. This is what I meant.
It is a little under 29 1/2" long from tip to screw. The viola my daughter plays has a 14" bow, which is just the right size for it.
The 16 in my viola is fine and I play with it all the time.

A quick and cheap solution to improve the learning process for kids. Oh my gosh, rehairing a bow is way too expensive for a student. Put that nice bow away and pick up a couple of these till they learn how to behave. When my kid was ready for a nice carbon, even just having it in the case as a backup helped other students during concert time. Water should not be applied to the wood. There is a red tint to its leaves.
The bow on this viola is a little shorter than the one that came with my guitar in 2009 or 2010. While the bow is shorter, its handling is more balanced, so the length is not particularly important. There is no way to tell whether it is actually lighter or if the weight distribution has made it appear so, but it is certainly sturdy.
