The cloth we have been using to polish our silverplated saxes is specially treated to remove fingerprints. All is well with it.
The amount you use it determines how long it will last. It has lasted over two years for me, and I only use it every six months.
The product is only meant for the outside of the body. To begin with, it is way too thick to be used as a swab and to continue, it is a 2 inch product. These have been my go-to reeds for years on my silver plated Yamaha 62 alto saxophone. The horns can be polished very well with them to remove any tarnish build up. Additionally, as a band director, I have used these to clean and polish silver plated brass instruments and they always do the trick. When it comes to substantial buildup and hard to reach places, the effectiveness of this product may be limited. I recommend that you take it to a repairman you trust to do an extensive cleaning, but in all other cases I can't recommend this product.
