DiMarzio's DP218 Super Distortion S Series Strat Humbucker Pickups pair the legendary distortion of the Super Distortion with the versatility of a direct-replacement humbucker for the Strat bridge

With the same blend of power and tone that made the original Super Distortion the worldwide standard for high-output humbuckers, there is no question that this is the ultimate high-output humbucker.

As well as tweaking the sound to take into account the slanted bridge placement, DiMarzio altered the sound to avoid inconsistent results just as if the Super Distortion S was installed in the normal bridge positioning

Newly designed 4-conductor wiring allows the new model to transmit parallel humbucking and split coil modes and makes a wonderful bridge position pair when combined with the Pro Track (our sku# 302326), The Chopper (302460), and Fast Track 1 (302441).

Questions & Answers

Are these sounds similar to Pantera, Megadeath, etc.?

In short, yes. In the same vein as their larger models, this pickup has a hot output. I was actually surprised at how much signal the pickup was able to produce. I found it hard to tell the difference between it and my Les Paul, which has the larger version of the pickup! To that end, if you try to emulate the sound of bands like Pantera, Megadeath, etc., the amp you use plays a crucial role, not to mention how you play.

This guitar is usually used to play rock type songs. Do you think this guitar would work well in the bridge and middle position of a strat with a dimarzio cruiser ?

It would be good to add another pickup in the bridge position as well if you are thinking about using this pickup in the middle position. The hot output of the pickup will make you notice the difference in aggression and level when switched between the two positions if you do not have one in the bridge.

This pickup is in the bridge position of my and I can't be happier with it

My strat is feeling much better since I installed this pickup in the bridge position! The rhythmic and lead playing are very well balanced in this track! This is a great choice for anyone who likes to dig into their strat with a little attitude and has a single coil slot that they need to install! Obviously, there might be a slight difference between a humbucker and this one, meaning that the DiMarzio super distortion humbucker is significantly different. But I mean every little bit! it's almost indiscernible! Despite having plenty of power, you will still be able to achieve fat, thick rhythms with the DiMarzio in no time at all!.

It has a good sound

It has a good sound, is solid, and is clean Not too thick, but not too thin. I have used it as replacement for a cheap laptop in the past and it has always worked well The steel guitar is made of steel. There is a very comprehensive description of how to connect the thing to the guitar, which I also found helpful.

If you want the thick, crunchy, and more bass/mid sound you'll need for rock, alternative, or punk, then this is the bridge replacement for you

I bought this to replace the single coil in the bridge on my SSS stratocaster Choosing the right style can be challenging The distorted tones this unit can produce are thick and crunchy, so they're perfect for modern rock and alternative music styles. There is nothing to complain about.
