The bone pieces are of high quality, and the sandpaper is excellent the smaller file tools are not very helpful. Considering the price is so low, you can't really complain about this kit. You don't need to spend 80 dollars on nut files if you want to avoid spending loads on them. Would recommend going to your local auto parts store and buying a torch tip cleaning tool to work on the nut slotting.
I found these to be close to perfect Getting in and out of the saddle was easy. This saddle was a tiny bit lower than the saddle it replaced, but I was happy with it. A little bit of sanding was needed on the nut, but it was not too bad. Despite not using the files (I didn't buy for them), they don't seem to be of high quality. Sandpaper pieces were provided in multiple sizes, which was excellent. A variety of shapes can be created from this material. As the tone changed a bit, it seemed the mood shifted as well. The goal was mostly to bring out mid-range and dim certain parts of the brightness. Also, there is some better sustain. My guitar sounds much better now since I changed the pickups, and I am happy I did so. All the pieces fit together well and are of good quality.
You can't do much to improve acoustics on a budget. It took me only a few minutes to replace the saddle (I didn't even have to sand it), clean the fretboard, and change the strings. My favorite way to hear how each saddle sounds is to drop them on a hard surface first. When I did this on a Jasmine (by Takamine) acoustic, the difference was night and day.
It's worth the price of this set just for the additional nuts and bridges, but the related files and sandpaper actually make this a nice set for learning how to maintain a guitar. On my junker, I replaced the bridge as the original bridge was plastic and flexed under the high e and B While it's not much better than the old bridge, the new one at least feels better in terms of quality. Only thing to be aware of is that the thinnest 2 or 3 files are so small that you're almost flossing with a nut using However, it still does what it's supposed to do. It is recommended for you to get a String Action Ruler so you can know how much sandpaper you must apply to the bridge so you can achieve the action you desire.
In addition to the saddle, the kit that comes with it makes it simple to use. Once I have customized a few more guitars, I intend to buy more saddles and nuts like these.
I bought these to put a broken 1861 Standard Balladeer back together after repairing it in the top and refinishing it. I'm happy to say that they work well and they offer you the files you requested. It's because of this that I selected this over some other options. The money is well spent.
A set of slotting files will be sent to you. In this set of files, there are many smaller files. In order to file bone properly, you should use a downward force that is sufficient to bend it. They are making a fool of themselves. As a result, it is possible to misalign the slot when the bent file starts bouncing around all over the place.
Just might have expected too much from this company but anyone thought the nut slot had been cut correctly lol the bridge was all right I would say and the tool is junk and I would look for good files if I bought these products again but not so there's good and bad.
