There is a red colour to it. If it looks pink on the computer it is likely due to your monitor, the camera, the lighting and so on, yet it is definitely a red pad.
I think it's a plastic composite molded out of plastic.

Plays well with the pad, it has nice rebound and the rim is not too high, thus we can play comfortably. They are fairly pricey as most pads are, but a decent value nonetheless.
To give my daughter a chance to try out different practice pads, I bought four different ones, some of which were more expensive. She received recommendations from each of her instructors. Though the color is not her favorite, she chose it nonetheless. The pad is substantial and not too bulky, but she also likes the size and weight of it. The drum set is loud enough to provide solid feedback to her while she plays.
