There isn't a lot of room on the swing nut piece, but it can be taken off. There are many brands of brake tilter boom rods that I have now, but they remain my favorites. They are incredibly positionable and extra-solid This is absolutely a must have, both the 18" and 12" models. The drum key lock is a nice touch as well. As such, this particular model comes with the Swing Nut cymbal mount, and I have a hard time finding my way around them. I give them a hard time for not giving them a proper Swing Nuts are removable, so that you can use the rod in the normal fashion, which is what I usually Apparently the break tilter is available without the swing nut as well, but I chose this one when the price was lower and I was able to feel confident that I could remove the swing nut.
