There is a completely open slot that is about 5/8 inch long top to bottom and about 5/8 inch wide side to side. It tapers a little at the top. Because I don't know what kind of sprinkles you want to use, I've measured the opening.
I believe I ordered it as a Christmas present for my sister.
I'm guessing it is, but I haven't tried it in the dishwasher yet. This item appeals to me because it is made of glass and stainless steel, and the adjustable pour/shaker holes are exactly what I was looking for.
Selected User Reviews For Pepper Shaker or Salt Shaker with Adjustable Pour Holes - Elegant Stainless Steel Spice Dispenser - Perfect for Himalayan, Table Salt, White and Black Pepper (Pepper Shaker)
You're probably familiar with how salt and pepper are used to season a pot of food. The salt dissolves quickly, but pepper requires shaking, shaking, shaking? This shaker saves time and effort by allowing you to shake in pepper as easily as salt. It has quickly become one of my favorite kitchen tools! And. There are two different sizes of holes in the pepper. One is for peppering your potatoes, while the other is large enough to control the amount of pepper that goes on your food while it's cooking. It is ideal.
I was hesitant to spend so much money on a single shaker, but I believe it is well worth it; the quality is excellent, and the bottle's glass is thick and does not appear to be easily breakable. The largest "strain" spout is ideal for coarsely ground Himalayan salt! The top rotates smoothly to change your pour setting, and the chrome body is simple to remove and replace after filling the shaker, but it doesn't feel like the bottle will fall out. The rotating top is slipped on top of the chrome style body, which screws onto the glass bottle.
This salt/pepper shaker, which comes with a variety of pour hole sizes, is useful in the kitchen as well as at the dinner table. Most dinner table users will be satisfied with the two different sizes of pour holes (large and small). The completely open slot is useful when you need to add a large amount of salt or pepper to a dish while cooking rather than sprinkling it for a long time, and the fact that the lid can be completely closed is an added bonus. The glass and brushed stainless steel combination look good, and the construction is fairly sturdy. br>br>When choosing between the required pour holes, the lid rotates smoothly and is secure enough not to fall off while in use. While grains of salt/pepper (especially fine ones) frequently get caught under the lid, this does not appear to cause any functional issues. br>br>At the given price, this shaker is an expensive one, especially given that it does not feel as premium as the description suggests.
With the larger holes for shaking and the open setting for pouring, this has worked out perfectly.
The tiny plastic part was discovered inside the shaker (see photos). We couldn't believe it. What if we swallowed the plastic part by accident? I am extremely dissatisfied with this product and strongly advise you to stay away from it.
It is extremely well-made, stylish, and functional. The seller's description is well-written and piqued my interest when it mentioned, among other things, that it would be ideal for Himalayan salt, which was exactly what I needed. The stainless steel top spins to reveal a large open area, large shaker holes, smaller holes, and two solid positions. It is variable to accommodate if I switch to using the shaker for pepper, sea salt, or something else. Although there are less expensive shakers on the market, they are built to the highest standards.
2 lb. It had been sitting in my kitchen cupboard for who knows how long, in a cardboard container of coarse Alessi Kosher Sea Salt. Alessi was the first person I met at an Olive Garden restaurant. Alessi salt and pepper grinders can be found on the tables. It's all very fancy! When I ran out of regular salt, I discovered that the Alessi was too coarse to fit in a "normal" salt shaker. No matter how hard I shook it, it would only barely come out. I looked for an "Alessi" shaker and was shocked at how expensive they were, until I found this one for only $10. According to the photo, I should be able to use the larger set of holes. When it arrived, however, I noticed that the smaller set of holes was larger than the holes in a regular salt shaker. These turned out to be PERFECT for Alessi's rough exterior. I spooned out some Alessi on a plate of pasta and RUINED it before getting the shaker. Keep in mind that REAL salt, such as Alessi, is more potent than store-bought salt like Morton. When I tell people that regular salt contains half sugar (dextrose), they are often surprised. Alessi is a true professional. Return to step 2 - 3000 years later, you'll discover that the salt used by people is pure sea salt, just like Alessi. I'm not pushing Alessi, but you should be aware that pure salt, while delicious, lacks iodine, and you don't want an iodine-deficient diet. There must be other brands of pure salt that are equally as good.
This shaker is very effective. I like that it has a variety of sizes of holes to accommodate coarser salt while also having a large hole for pouring. The only thing I don't like about it is that salt tends to accumulate above the holes, making it a little more difficult to turn, but it's simple enough to clean out.
