The strip is adhered to the surface with a strong adhesive. You might be able to pry it off. The magnet is incredibly powerful in and of itself. These are extremely effective.

I expected a small, flimsy thing on which I might be able to fit a few spices but would have to be careful about weight, and this product exceeded my expectations twice. The first thing that surpassed my expectations was the amount of space available! It's brushed with olive oil, vinegar, and eight other spices. That's a lot more than I thought I'd be able to cram in there. I was hoping for a total of about five spaces. There's also the matter of weight. I'm using oil and vinegar once more. Oil and vinegar to the brim. This has a STRONG magnet. Strong enough to require caution when attempting to place it where you want it because it is quite difficult to move. I'm very happy with the outcome.
I've never found a better Amazon product! I would strongly suggest it. The magnets have incredible holding power. Even when carrying a lot of weight, there was no slipping! I'm really digging these. I started with two and have just placed an order for another two!.
I needed to clean out a spice drawer and wanted something simple, sleek, and modern to keep my 8 or so most frequently used spices organized and accessible. These have a powerful magnet on the back and look great on the side of my fridge holding four tiny mason jars of spices. I bought two, each with four jars. I could probably fit eight jars on a single rack, but I prefer them to be spread out. This is far and away the cutest thing I've ever seen - Others, on the other hand, are all far too rural. For my personal taste, crock is appropriate. These appear to be much more expensive than they are, and this is a better deal than the one I found on Food52. I would strongly suggest it.
I ordered a few Yamazaki brand items to help organize my kitchen, and I'm so happy with the quality that I'm going to order some more. The white is even, with no exposed metal or spots, and it's slightly matte, giving it a more refined appearance than a lot of the painted metal shelving I've seen. br>br>Because the magnet covers the entire back of the shelf, it is extremely secure and requires a significant amount of force to move or pull off. I snapped a photo with three large half-dollar bills. It didn't even come close to sliding down from the weight of the full glass bottles. I wouldn't recommend storing anything that tall, though, because the bar that holds it in place is quite low, and you might accidentally knock them over.
I needed a way to get to my spices, cooking oils, and sauces quickly. I bought one of these shelves and then went out and bought two more! Almost all of my spices (I have a lot) are stored in the three of them stacked on my refrigerator. They can even hold heavy bottles like olive oil, vinegar, and other liquids. For Christmas, I bought one for a friend. The design appears to be sleek and modern, and it will most likely fit into any kitchen.
I currently have four of these in a one-bedroom apartment with limited storage. They can be used in a variety of ways. My most-used spices, salt cellar, pepper mill, and olive oil spray are all kept in them on my refrigerator. I attached some magnetic hooks to the bottom of one of them to keep my pot holders in place. I'd been using them for a few years and had never had any problems - There will be no slipping, falling, or other similar incidents - and discovered that they fit perfectly on the side of my washer/dryer. I keep my stain remover/delicates detergent/bag of OxiClean pods/white vinegar/powder bleach on the side of a narrow closet where I have a stacking set. It will also fit a smaller bottle of laundry detergent (the medium size of Persil will fit, but the large will not). Any extra storage space is a plus, and these are particularly sturdy. I'm sure I'll find something else to do with them soon.
Seriously, I unwrapped it, hung it on my refrigerator, filled it with hot sauces and flavored salts (onion salt, truffle salt), and now I want more so I can store my vitamins somewhere other than my desk. If you want to declutter but live in a small apartment, this provides additional shelf space for items you use frequently. It appears to hold a reasonable amount of weight, but I'd start with the biggest thing you want to put on it first, then add smaller items. I wouldn't stack too many glass containers on it just in case, but mine feels very sturdy (like a strong magnet) and is fairly difficult to move, so I'm not concerned.
There are a plethora of spices available to us. Because our kitchen is so small, we needed to think of a clever way to make it work for us. Because our fridge is right next to the stove, it's ideal to keep the spices close by. We keep all of the ones we use on the shelf and the rest in the cabinet. It's such a charming and practical set-up. Love it! As you can see in the pictures, the shelves are wide enough to accommodate multiple rows of spices. It's built to last, and the magnet is incredible. I was skeptical at first, so I tried to move and readjust the second one closer to the first one on the side of the fridge, but it wouldn't budge! It's also ideal for renters who don't want to ruin their walls by drilling holes.
