mildew growth is aided by the fact that it retains water. It's a good size and has a lot of absorption. It's simple to toss it in the washer, but the water doesn't seem to evaporate out of the fabric over time. As a result, mildew grows and dishes don't dry properly. The undersides of pots, knives, and other items simply stay wet. Inverted bowls, as well as a large dishtowel, can be used to make miniature terrariums.
This was purchased to go under a new strainer that I recently purchased. Molly, our cat, lays on it whenever she gets the chance. I'm pretty sure this was approved by the cats. However, it does a good job of keeping water spots off of our tiled counter tops. It's gentle on the skin and simple to maintain. Now all I have to do is figure out how to keep the cat off of it.
These were ordered to replace my older Costco beige mats, which were about 6 years old. My old ones were still holding up well in terms of water absorption, but they were beginning to show stains. These mats are the same size as my old ones, and they're perfect for drying large pots and dishes. It was the perfect size for next to my sink. I liked the black color because I thought it would hide stains over time. br> However, after only one day of use, they do not absorb or dry well. I use the dishwasher for the majority of my dishes and hand-wash the rest. The mat, however, was completely soaked and wet after only one day. Even with direct sunlight shining on it in my kitchen, it does not dry quickly. The counter was dripping wet beneath it, and you can see where the water pools when you press on it. I'll be returning these and looking for something else; my old Costco ones only lasted about a week before I had to wash them. They dried quickly because I believe there was more layering inside the mat than there is in these.
My dishwasher broke, and I'm waiting for it to be replaced by the owner. This was on the Black Friday Special event, which I saw. When I first heard about it, I knew it would be superior to a regular kitchen towel. It's big and absorbent, holds the dishes in place, and dries quickly; I love it and am glad I found it. I'm going to get one for my daughter because she has a lot of pots and dishes that can't go in the dishwasher and she uses a regular kitchen towel that soaks up a lot of water and takes a long time to dry. It's well worth the money and would be ideal for collecting excess water under a dish rack.
Does exactly what it says it will. I really like the XL size because it has enough room for glasses, pots and pans, and a small dish drainer.
We use a dish rack to air dry Tupperware items in our dishwasher because they don't fully dry. The Kitchen Basic drying mat absorbs the water that drips from these items very well. The mat is long-lasting, dries quickly, and does not fade. After several washes, the mat is still in good condition. I strongly suggest that every kitchen have this item.
It was my fault for not paying attention because it was a little too big for my intended purpose. However, I continue to use it on my counter top to dry my dishes by simply folding it over 1/4 inch. It's a great size for larger drying jobs, such as large pans and the like!!.
They also appear to effectively absorb all of the water. They molded in any case. I'm disappointed, and I'll request a refund. Even after washing and bleaching them, the mold stains remain.
