Questions & Answers

How big is the space inside?

Interior: 12 1/2"W x 11 1/2"D x 6 1/2"H Dimensions: 12 1/2"W x 11 1/2"D x 6 1/2"H Dimensions: 12

Is the crumb tray in the unit's front or back?

It's at the bottom of the front door if you pull it down.

According to what I've heard, roasting uses both top and bottom burners, while baking only uses the bottom. Is there a choice of roasting or baking in this oven?

This oven does not have a "roast" setting, and all of the settings can be seen if you zoom in on one of the photos. The "bake" setting utilizes both the top and bottom burners, and is ideal for baking a cake or roasting a chicken, both of which I have successfully accomplished. The top burner is used only when broiling.

Is it possible to wash the racks and baking pan in the dishwasher?

Hand-washing in hot, soapy water is recommended.

The product is excellent, but there are a few design flaws
4/5

When my 12-year-old son asked for a toaster oven a few weeks ago, I decided to buy it. I thoroughly researched the competition on this and other websites before selecting this Cuisinart model because the Oster had clearly reached the end of its useful life. The features that were "must-haves" for me were an easy-to-use interface and a large screen. The nonstick interior is spotless, and there's a convection setting. I didn't want a rotisserie in my kitchen - I'd never use it if I had my way - an air- a dehydrator function, or a fryer I had specific space requirements as well (measure, measure, MEASURE before purchasing any appliance! ) and required a timer with a duration of more than one hour. (Some products are only good for 30 minutes. ) , which is useless for baking potatoes and other similar items), and the timer on this oven goes up to 2 hours. before it shuts down on its own. br>br>Everything about this Cuisinart model was perfect, and it came at a very reasonable price, especially given the obvious step-up in quality. In terms of quality and features, it outperforms my previous oven. The controls are simple to operate, and there's a blue-light indicator. digital display with backlight It's also a lot bigger, allowing you to prepare food for at least three adults with many items like frozen French fries. - French fries, dinner rolls, baked potatoes, roasted vegetables, and so on. To avoid having to turn on my convection wall oven, I mostly use my toaster oven for this purpose. I've made all of these things so far, as well as toasting small slices of "artisan" bread that are too small for my Cuisinart pop-up oven. up the toaster The oven's performance has exceeded my expectations: The food bakes/toasts much more evenly and quickly than in my old oven, especially when using the optional convection fan (which has an on/off button and runs quietly). )br>As well as the chimes that sound when the oven is pre-heated. The heating (which happens quickly) and the timer going off are not obnoxious or loud - However, if you find them bothersome, you can turn them off. I've avoided using the broiler function because it can be messy, and I'd rather use my self-cleaning oven. For that, I'm going to clean the wall over. br>br>I've had good luck with all of my Cuisinart appliances (including a waffle maker). maker as well as food I was confident in buying this brand because it comes with a three-year warranty. A one-year limited warranty is included, as well as several recipes in the product manual. I despise the idea of tossing manufactured goods into landfills after only a few years of use, so I prefer to invest in high-quality products. br>br>Now for what I consider to be two design-related issues. flaws. One small point: while a clock is included to show the current time at all times, On the screen (which is back-lit), it's a day (which is back-lit). The product manual specifies that the oven should be unplugged when not in use (it is lit only when the oven is in use). Huh? Of course, this resets the clock to zero, so what good is a clock function if you have to reset it every time you use the oven? When I'm not using it, I don't need another "vampire appliance" sucking blood - This feature is useless for me because I already have digital clocks on my wall oven and built-in microwave. I initially assumed there had been a "late start" to the cooking process. a function that made use of the time-of-day No, there was no such thing as a day to work. Oh well. br>br>I'm not sure why you have to unplug the oven every time you use it, but I understand why they put it in the manual because of the OTHER design flaw: When this oven is in use, the exterior (except for the handle) becomes extremely hot - which is clearly stated in the manual. To prevent the oven from being accidentally turned on, follow these steps. as if said by a child - You should unplug it because it is clearly a safety issue. On one of my first uses of the oven, I reached around the side to get to one of my canisters (which are several inches away from the oven) and only lightly burned my skin by brushing the underside of my forearm against the corner of the oven. As stated in the manual, you must provide adequate clearance for the unit, and there are bumpers on the back of the unit to prevent it from being pushed up too close to a vertical surface. Nothing should be left on top of the oven. It's also a good idea to keep the electric cord away from the oven, as it could melt if it comes into contact with it. Apart from the safety issue, what also irritates me about all of this is how much heat escapes the appliance - This is a clear example of energy waste. To alleviate this, I believe the oven should have been better insulated. Overall, I'm pleased with this toaster oven and anticipate using it for many years. While I can recommend it, I believe it is important to present all of the advantages and disadvantages so you can decide for yourself whether it is right for you.

It took the place of a 7-year-old Cuisinart oven
3/5

It took the place of a 7-year-old Cuisinart oven that was still functional but difficult to clean. The substitute is a shambles. After a few months, the button labels were no longer visible. The convection fan stopped working after that. It wouldn't heat up to the proper temperature last night. So, from purchase to disposal, it took nine months. I'll never use a Cuisinart again; they're too expensive for me!.

Labels that have vanished
3/5

After three months, The unit has performed admirably and produces the desired results. There is one flaw: The labels on the buttons are peeling away. It will be difficult to use in the future as a result of this. It's a letdown.

The writing on the Cusinart toaster dials has already worn off the buttons
3/5

The toaster has only been used three times, so the dials should be in good shape.

Purchases should be avoided
3/5

When it was first opened and used, it appeared to be a nice toaster oven. However, after two months of almost daily use, the buttons have worn away at the writing. This should not have happened for the price I paid. What happened to the days when appliances were of high quality? I'm sick of wasting my money on useless items.

Customer service is a complete waste of time and money
3/5

The device functions well, but the letters on the command buttons wear off over time. There are six commands, including a timer, temperature, and four others that I am unable to read because the letters blur and then vanish. Cuisinart has been contacted, but they want to send me a new unit at my expense, which appears to be a waste of time and money. They also stated that they had received no reports similar to mine, which I find difficult to believe because I keep my kitchen very clean.

Problems with the temperature
3/5

I bought it about two months ago. I adore the design, and the Cuisinart name is unbeatable. The reason I only gave it a three-star rating is because The "ding" that indicates the temperature has been reached goes off long before the temperature has been reached. I set it for 400 degrees yesterday and got a warning when it only reached 300. I had to wait for the temperature to reach its maximum. I didn't have to wait long, but please don't tell me that the temperature has been reached if it hasn't. br>br>My second (and far more serious) problem is that the cooking temperature is significantly higher than what I specified. I set it to 400 degrees, but it continues to rise to 450 degrees. While cooking and making adjustments, I despise having to stare at my oven themometer constantly. I'm thinking about giving it back.

Since day one, the heating element in this toaster oven has been defective
3/5

From the beginning, this toaster oven's heating element was defective. On May 12, 2018, we contacted Cuisinart and were told it would be replaced, but we would have to pay for shipping to return the defective unit. On May 29th, we contacted Cuisinart again and were informed that the item was back ordered and that corporate would contact them in three days with an update. On June 4th, I was told by a customer service representative and a manager that Cuisinart will not refund us for the product, but will replace it when the truck is full? I'm going to take my money somewhere else after 35 years of dealing with this company. You should do the same.
