Questions & Answers

What is the difference between a toaster oven and a convection oven?

Breville's offer of a convection oven is insufficient at $145. They want an extra $100 for a shoddy little fan that will break down in a year or two. Breville wants us to pay $400 for the new and improved model in order to correct some of the design flaws that plagued previous models. Why don't you retire this model, fix your design flaws, and sell the new model for the same price as the old one?

Is the number 15 correct? Is the oven included in the 5 width or is it just the handle?

When measuring the width, only the handle from the outside of the unit is taken into account. The oven width space is 11 inches inside the oven. 5 and 12. 5 (with oval distance inside the oven)br>I have never had more fun with an oven than I have with this one. It gives the impression that you're cooking in a high-end modern kitchen with all the trimmings.

Is there a broiling pan included?

Yes, a broiling pan was included with the oven.

What are interior deminesions, and how do you know if you have them?

The BOV650XL Compact Smart Oven® has 12 inch wide by 5 inch deep interior dimensions. 12 inch tall (with four legs) 14 inches in height (usable) and 12 inches in depth

I made a purchase
3/5

The following day, I returned it. Purchased to replace an old Black and Decker toaster oven that had been in use for over a decade and had finally died. I was never satisfied with it because it was bad at toasting and took too long to toast everything from plain bread to English muffins or bagels, among other things. br>br>The top rating by Consumer Reports and its reported ability to toast quickly and evenly were important factors in my decision to purchase it. br>br>I took it out of the box and - PRIOR TO DOING ANY OTHER THING - Read the instructions carefully. It stated that the model number and serial number should be written down for future use. Number of the model: OK. What's the number on the back? There isn't a serial number on the product. After calling Breville's toll-free number and waiting for what seemed like an eternity - I had no idea how long I'd be on the line because there was no indication of how long I'd be there - The Model Number was said to be embossed on the label by a "batch number. " So why isn't this stated in the toaster oven's instruction manual? I'm not sure. br>br>There's nothing on Amazon's site, Consumer Reports' site, or anywhere else I looked on line that said the Breville needed 4 inches of clearance on each side, and I don't have a total of 4 inches of clearance combined on both sides, much less 4 inches on each side for a total of 8 inches, where I keep my toaster oven. br>br>The old Black and Decker had a power output of 1150 Watts. The Breville has a power output of 1800 watts. It's a whole lot hotter than the old Black and Decker. not only on the inside, but also on the outside: the top, sides, front and back, as well as the bottom of the overhang. the- Above the toaster oven, there is a counter cabinet. that it became clear right away why the extra clearance was required: prevention of a fire br>br>Today, I repacked it and dropped it off at UPS. Even before it left the UPS Store, Amazon had issued a refund within hours. br>br>It appears to be well made. br>br>Nice customer service! To be honest, it was surprisingly light in weight, but well-made. I never even toasted a slice of bread in it because of the obvious fire hazard caused by the lack of required clearances. I can't comment on how well it toasts, bakes, broils, cooks pizza, or handles frozen food because I've never done any of those things. I just handed it back to you. br>br>If you have the necessary clearances and aren't planning on putting it under an overhanging cabinet, this could be the toaster oven for you. Just keep in mind how much counter space it will require - a lot more than the size of its footprint br>br>I replaced it today with a Panasonic NGB110P. It's available on Amazon. It's rated at 1300 Watts, so while it's higher than the 1150 Watts of the old Black and Decker, it shouldn't produce nearly as much heat as the 1800 Watts of the Breville. Although it isn't quite as well-reviewed as the Breville, Consumer Reports claims that it toasts quickly and effectively. Following safety, my main concern is.

I was pleased with my purchase until I received an error code of E01
3/5

I was pleased with my purchase until I received an error code of E01. OFF THE HOOK I reconnected it. Everything was fine until an E01 error code appeared. This is described as a "non-essential" item in the manual. I was told that I had an "unresettable" issue code and that I should unplug and contact customer service right away. I'm in the middle of a warranty return and replacement process right now. I was on hold for a long time before I was able to speak with anyone. Customer service and the exchange process did not meet my expectations. "Advance replacement" means that my credit card will be charged until the original unit is returned. Hopefully, everything will go smoothly from here on out. br>br>UPDATE: As previously stated, the original oven was returned to Breville. I got a new one from Breville. I got the same E01 error message on the new oven within a week. Another faulty unit has appeared. I contacted Amazon and arranged for a full refund after returning the oven. AMAZON, THANK YOU SO MUCH.

The temperature was 25 degrees Fahrenheit off
3/5

When the oven is set to bake, remove the pan from the oven and place it on the The temperature was 25 degrees Fahrenheit off. The oven never got above 425°F when set to bake at 450°F. In this price range, I would expect a more precise oven.

This Breville Compact Smart Oven is a big hit with my wife
5/5

UPDATE : We are still as happy as the day it arrived, despite the fact that it is nearly two years old and is used every day. Some reviews claimed it wouldn't last more than six months or a year; however, the Breville unit we received is almost two years old. br>br>In fact, we use our regular oven less and less now that we have this unit. I like how this unit cooks, but I love how well it reheats food. While a microwave can quickly warm food, it can also cause some meats to become "rubbery. " The Breville toaster oven, on the other hand, evenly warms the food and does not "change" it as microwaves do. This oven is also great for crisping things like french fries and breads. It's done everything from heating up my wife's daily raspberry Pop tarts to baking cookies and making bread. It's also great for pizza. br>br>This oven has been used to cook a wide variety of foods, and it is used at least once a day. Does the fact that I've had this unit for two years affect my opinion of it? No, I still think it's a great toaster oven, and we're very pleased with it. We've even given this toaster oven as a gift to others, who have expressed satisfaction with it.
- My wife had mentioned that she wanted another toaster oven, but not one of the cheapies sold at the local stores, so I ordered this as a surprise for her. Her previous toaster oven had recently gone to the appliance yard in the sky, and she had mentioned that she wanted another toaster oven, but not one of the cheapies sold at the local stores. br>br>After doing some research, I came across the Breville Compact Smart Oven and ordered it as a surprise for my wife; imagine her surprise when it arrived, only to be met with disappointment when she discovered that the shipping box had been damaged, and that the damage had transferred to the oven right in the center of the back and top. I immediately contacted Amazon, who promptly dispatched a replacement, which we received in a matter of days. I returned the broken oven the same day it was delivered to me. The return procedure could not have gone any smoother. br>br>The consistency of this oven, as well as its ease of use, has pleased my wife greatly. It's also a stunning piece of equipment. We recently went to Best Buy and found the same oven for $90 more than I paid on Amazon. br>br>Another sign that Breville is paying attention to how their product is actually used is the plug on the cord. Impressive. br>br>The oven is well-made, attractive, and has the appearance, feel, and functionality of a high-end appliance. We've been using it for about a month now, and my wife now cooks many of our meals in it instead of the large oven. This is one of those purchases that I had been looking forward to and am now glad I made. This toaster oven outperforms a Black and Decker or other low-cost toaster oven by a long shot. The size is also ideal for leaving out on the counter in the corner, as my wife requested. br>br>If I could, I'd give this a six-star rating. I suppose I can ****** in some ways.
