I was really looking forward to these. I'd been looking for a durable, easy-to-use, and easy-to-clean replacement for slippy cups, so I gave these a try for a few weeks before ordering a few more packs. However, I'm now annoyed. A serious flaw in the design has been discovered. The straw's magical ring, which prevents them from pulling it out, is not a solid ring. My straws all have the tiniest hole in them, no matter how they're made. Only because my children frequently consume chocolate milk do I notice it. I can't get the chocolate out no matter what I do. It's chocolate today, and it'll be molded tomorrow. The hunt goes on, and these weren't cheap. Very let down.
I was overjoyed to present these cups to my four-year-old grandson. Sadly, the tops come off far too easily, resulting in a plethora of spills. The straws are flimsy and easy to bite and bend, making them ideal for a toddler. I tried returning the cups, but they had to be unopened and in their original packaging. We didn't realize they wouldn't work for us until we tried them, so we couldn't return them. Cups are fine if you have older children who don't care about lids, but save your money if you're transitioning toddlers to "big kid" cups.
Storage is simple, and the dishwashing machine is safe to use. I would add that a straw cleaner should be purchased as well, as it is not included. If the cup/straw is not rinsed as soon as possible, buildup can occur within the straw. Yes, the lid did pop off after I dropped the cup, but I didn't expect it to. The goal is to keep a toddler from spilling it like they would with a normal cup. It's a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork. From sippy to big kid, there is a cup between them. We have a few straws that have been gnawed on, making them difficult to fit through the lid, so I've ordered replacements.
They claimed to be leakproof, but there's no way these are. ", which is exactly why I bought them in the first place. Let me tell you something: THEY ARE TOTALLY LEAKPROOF! My jaw dropped when I flipped one upside down over the sink while smirking at my husband and rolling my eyes. I couldn't believe it didn't leak even a smidgeon of water. I tried it again and again, then tried all five colors and swapped out the straws and other accessories, and they still didn't leak. Because there are no gaskets, I'm not sure how they work, but whoever came up with them is a genius! Thanks! I was happily surprised!.
The lids appear to be secure enough that they do not fall off even when the up is tipped over. I've washed them all in the dishwasher several times and haven't noticed any warping or discoloration. Because I'm a helicopter parent, I also bought some straw cleaners because I'm not sure if dishwashers are supposed to clean straws, so that's something to think about. The straws also have a neat little band on them that keeps the liquid in and prevents the straws from coming out of the lid when turned upside down. Not a bad addition that didn't cost the designer a lot of money. br>br>An added bonus is that the different colors of cups, lids, and straws allow for a wide range of variations, or if you're like me, a wide range of combinations. makes it easier to tell if the cup from lunch is still there. or the one they snuck away with the night before. Isn't it true that no one wants their child to drink stale milk? Overall, a good buy, and with 5 cups, you should be able to get by for a day or two before having to do dishes again.
This isn't a watertight seal. They are, however, excellent cups. Because the lids do not seal tightly, they are easily removed. It also isn't sealed around the straw. I like these cups because they appear to be durable and have performed admirably, especially when compared to the take and toss cups, which always leaked due to pressure changes or someone squeezing a little, or if you put the straw into the lid and then pressed the lid onto the cup, the liquid would come out the straw and spill all over the place! With take and toss, it was a disaster. We don't have those problems, but our yellow lid will only fit a yellow (flower) cup. It's odd, but it's a little smaller than the others, so we can't mix and match like we can with the others, and the other lids are too big for the yellow cup. I'm not sure what happened there.
For our three-year-old, we've switched to cups! These are something we use on a daily basis and adore. They're designed in such a way that there are no crevices for mold or food particles to hide in, and they're dishwasher safe! I also like how the straws have a catch so that my child can't pull them out! They're also available in a variety of adorable designs. The only criticism I have is that the straws aren't of the same high quality as I had hoped. After only two months, my three-year-old has chewed almost all of them, bending them significantly. Other straws have fared far better in his hands.
Update: We bought three sets of these cups, but not all of the lids fit all of the cups, and we've had some spills as a result of the lids not snapping securely. Just make sure it fits your child before handing it over. br>When my kids were older and outgrew their 360 sippy cups, I needed a straw cup, and these fit the bill perfectly. This is my third set. I purchased both the 5 count and then this one for my mother's home. The only thing I noticed, which isn't a problem, is that now that we've mixed the two sets, not all of the lids fit snugly on all of the cups; if you mix sets, double-check before giving to your child.
