They exist in their own world. They are also all the same pattern and are not of the same quality as other pieces I own, indicating that they were made in China rather than England. They are pretty and a nice addition to my set, but I wish they were a little heavier.

My daughter gave it to me as a birthday present because I didn't have it. I loved it so much that I ordered a second set for my husband in the sweet pea pattern, which is the only one available. The soup bowl is thick, which aids in retaining the heat of the soup or porrage being served. I used the detachable platter that came with the set as a serving dish for baked potato wedges. It's a stunning collection of pieces. It would be a proud addition to the collection of any Portmeirion fan. Even if they haven't started collecting yet, I would suggest purchasing at least two sets, as they are extremely useful in the kitchen. If you served your guests' food in this set, they'd be blown away. There are no drawbacks to this set.
I started collecting Portmeirion when I lived in the United Kingdom, and I now have a complete collection. Because it's so lovely, I'll keep adding to it. It appears to be perfect for "special meals" as well as everyday use! The majority of my collection is from England, but I also have items from China - Fortunately, this has no effect on the dish's quality.

This is one of my favorite things because I can use it all day. With tea and toast in the morning, soup and sandwich for lunch, and tea and snack at bedtime. It's so lovely to look at that it brings me joy.
Not the item itself, but the original packaging was torn to shreds and rewrapped in a haphazard manner (basically thrown together). That item was given to a relative as a Christmas present.
