Is there enough heft here? Check. Is it really a buck a pop? Check. It literally ticks all of my boxes in terms of what I was looking for. I needed something to supplement our current supply of dinner knives (which we refer to as "butter knives" in my home country). I knew it would be impossible to find anything that looked exactly like our previous knives, but this one fits in nicely. br>br>Then there are the knives, which are heavy (in a good way), have a great heft, and look great when they come out of the dishwasher. They don't bother me in the least.
I've been using my grandmother's stainless steel flatware for decades, but over time, pieces have been lost, and I'd like to replace it. The Amazon knives are very sturdy, but after being cleaned in the dishwasher, they quickly developed annoying rust spots, unlike my grandmother's flatware, which has never had a single rust spot over the years. If this is a concern for you, you may want to spend a little more money on name-brand flatware.
I was able to get a partial refund for the one defective knife, but if you need exactly a dozen, you might be out of luck with this level of quality control.
The Amazon logo is prominently displayed on the blades of each of these knives. Having the Amazon logo imprinted on your knife for every bite isn't particularly elegant.
Because the description states that they are 18/0 stainless steel, I am giving them a one-star rating. The knife has a 13/0 stamped on it. It's likely that I'll be back.
I understand that not everyone has the same flatware holder in their drawer, but we have a bamboo one from The Container Store that we bought years ago. They aren't going to fit in there. The flat ware basket in our dishwasher is "slotted," which means that each piece is held separately. When the "blade" side is up, they don't fit. These notes are stated in a strict manner to emphasize the dimensions once again. Finally, they are emblazoned with the "amazon basics" logo. Why was that necessary, I'm not sure.
It's perfect for replacing my vanishing knives. One day, I'll locate the missing ones and am able to acquire a large number of them. As if you've misplaced your socks.
Rust began to form after only two washes. After 4- After 5 washes, the rust is severe enough that you must discard these. It was a total waste of money. If you do decide to purchase these, be sure to only wash them by hand.
