Questions & Answers

Is the tip of this knife curved? The photo makes it difficult to tell. ?

Yes, the tip is curved. I bought another one without the curved tip, which I don't like. This is the one I use for grapefruit and tomatoes on a daily basis. I haven't tried it on berries yet, but I plan to do so the next time I buy berries, and I highly recommend this curved tip grapefruit knife.

Is there a label on the package that says "grapefruit knife"?

I bought mine 3 years ago and it is without a doubt the best! I believe the package said grapefruit knife. I cannot be 100% sure of my answer, BUT, this knife, (I do use it to make small bred bowls for clam chowder and chile, though.)

You've come to the right place: This is the knife you're looking for
5/5

My husband misplaced my grapefruit knife in the final pack (while packing the kitchen) after having to move three times in five years. I don't use it to cut through grapefruit sections, but I've been using my old one to prepare bread bowls for clam chowder for years. When it came to dealing with those bread bowls, I really missed having my grapefruit knife! Finally, I decided to look things up on Amazon, and after reading a lot of reviews, I came across one that said something along the lines of (and I'm paraphrasing here) 'If you're thinking about buying the xxxx knife, don't, because I did, and it was the worst possible purchase. ' As a result, I purchased the Rada W230 and strongly advise you to do so as well. It is far superior to any other product I have purchased. 'I'm not doing the other review justice at all. ' But here's what I can tell you: The Grapefruit Knife from Rada is fantastic! I'm glad I took the time to read the review, and I'm even happier that the woman who bought the knife wrote the review she did. You won't have to look far for a grapefruit knife. The design, manufacture, and quality of this knife are all exceptional. As a result, it is likely to last for a very long time.

A little too piercing
4/5

I agree with another reviewer that the sharpness is a little too much. Cuts through the membrane every now and then. It won't be a big deal if I don't improve with practice; I'll just use a sharpening stone to dull it down a little. I wish the handle didn't have the small bump at the hilt; it's unnecessary, and the blade cuts in both directions, so it's pointless. The best part is that you don't have to fight with a grapefruit spoon and always end up with a good chunk of fruit in the rind; you can get it all with a little care and speed. When compared to a grapefruit spoon, this is a real treat.

I compared grapefruit knives to find the best one
5/5

The best of them all is the Rada Cutlery W230 Grapefruit Knife! I bought this grapefruit knife along with the other highest-rated (by customers) grapefruit knife, the Better Houseware one, and they are not even close. The latter simply does not cut well; it has very fine serrations and cuts as badly as you might expect from its appearance. This Rada Cutlery W230 knife, on the other hand, is razor-sharp. Cutting them both up and putting them side by side is a great way to see how similar they are. The Rada slices through the grapefruit like warm butter, all at the same time! I cut a large circle around a grapefruit half, as well as each section, and underneath each section so that I could literally let all the sections drop out, or the entire flesh drop out as one large piece if I cut underneath before cutting each individual section. br>br>In comparison to the other knife mentioned above, this Rada serrated knife does everything expected of it, and it's like having power steering or power windows; it just works so much faster. I have a great serrated steak knife that I've been using for grapefruit, but this Rada knife is even sharper, and it's double-edged, so it's perfect for grapefruit. On a grapefruit, where there's no need for a double-edged, is far more useful. A knife with a blade has been created. br>br>I was so happy with this knife that I immediately ordered another one from Amazon, my second order in three weeks. br>br>It's a must-have! There are no drawbacks that I can think of.

High- quality, sharpness, and a curved shape- A stainless 'grapefruit' knife with a blade that is ideal for making fruit salads
5/5

This sturdy Made in USA 'grapefruit' knife is about all I need to make a fresh fruit salad with whatever ingredients I have on hand at any given time. It's great for separating fruit flesh from rind or skin (oranges, cantaloupes, apples, watermelon, and so on), and it's also great for sectioning any type of fruit into smaller pieces (grapes, bananas, strawberries, pineapple, and so on). You'll want to pay close attention to what you're doing because the serrated stainless steel blade is quite sharp! After several months of use, the stainless blade still looks brand new thanks to the resin handle, which keeps contamination at bay. I'm glad I purchased this knife, and I'm very pleased with it. It satisfied me.

Good, but *extremely* sharp for a grapefruit knife
4/5

This is a nice grapefruit knife, but I think it's a little too sharp. It cuts through the segment skin and into the peel with ease. After cutting a grapefruit in half, I use this to cut around the circumference of the fruit and then remove the skin from the segments so they can be eaten with a spoon. Before it broke, my 40-year-old grapefruit knife had done a fantastic job. This one, in my opinion, is extremely sharp and cuts through the segment skins far too easily.

This is a fantastic device
5/5

If you like grapefruit, this is a great little gadget to have in your kitchen. The blade of the knife is extremely tough - It's not as flimsy as my previous one, and it's quite sharp - It slices the grapefruit as if it were butter! The thick plastic handle is appealing to me. The handle on my previous one was made of wood, which can harbor bacteria. ewww, that's a lot more hygienic. The price is incredibly low.

Only serious grapefruit connoisseurs should try this
5/5

This knife excels at only one task: cutting around the edge of halved grapefruit halves. However, it isn't ideal for slicing grapefruit wedges into individual wedges. You can't use it to cut the grapefruit in half, so have a regular (straight) knife on hand. This is an invaluable tool if you eat a grapefruit every day like my husband. Otherwise, it's unlikely that you'll use it.

After one use, the quality had deteriorated and the product had oxidized
3/5

It was more expensive than a grapefruit knife in a store, but it was ordered for ease of use. The handle oxidized after only being used once. The fact that the handle is "aluminum" astounds me. In any case, this product is not recommended.
