In spite of the grooves on the bottom of this glass, it sits on the rim circle of the glass because the bottom of the glass is recessed. Glasses of a high standard, highly recommended. Glasses made of crystal are mostly transparent but they are a bit thicker and heavier. In spite of this, they look stunning and elegant. I think the price is worth it for this glass.
I think it's the right size to fit a large square ice cube. The ones I have are used for breakfast and for cocktails such as Old Fashioneds.

Despite the fact that this drinkware is attractive, it is very saw similar items at Macy's for the same price, but I did not want to buy them from there. We ordered two of these gifts as a Christmas gift for our "Whisky, neat" husband. The products looked awesome online so we ordered two of them. It was a very disappointing show. They look cheap just by looking at them There is no light refraction as seen in the picture. Riedel's glasses are usually great but I wish I had seen them in person before purchasing them. Normally, I love Riedel's glasses, but these didn't feel good in my hands. I learned a lesson from this.
