It is a gift that I bought. Because the shipping box it arrived in was much larger than the box that contained the carving set, it obviously bounced around inside the larger box (even though the carving set indicated it was fragile on its packaging). My disappointment was even greater when I opened the inner box to inspect the contents and found the set had not been carefully secured inside the wooden box during shipping. As a result, the set moved around inside the box scratching up the interior. My new wooden box had some scratches on the outside, particularly on the underside. I was able to fix them, but I am very disappointed in how it was packaged for a new product. As far as carving sets go, they appear to be okay. It'll be interesting to see what the second impression is like, but for now I'm disappointed in the first impression.
The set was given to me for my birthday. It was the first time I used these recently and I must say they are extremely nice. I loved how easy it was to slice my turkey. These would make a great gift for someone special or something to use on a daily basis.
