Questions & Answers

Is the casing made of polycarbonate or some other material? That contains bpa. ?

Yes, it's a Food and Drug Administration-approved product. NSF-listed and approved Makrolon 2458 is a FDA-approved medical-grade plastic that is safe for direct contact with food and human tissue. The use of medical-grade polycarbonate rather than regular polycarbonate is due to the fact that it is more durable. It's different from other plastics in that it can be steam sterilized, boiled, and used with a variety of sanitizers (iodophor, Starsan, alcohol, and so on).

What is the height of the top above the surface?

About 1/2 inch above the surface, the top of the Tilt will float. To make the Tilt work properly, you'll need a few inches of headroom in your fermenter. If you have any further concerns, please contact me. I would be delighted to assist you. br>Best regards,br>Marcus

Where Have I Been For My Entire Brewing Career? This is a fantastic device! First and foremost, I'd like to point out that the Tilt can differ slightly from the actual (by 1 or 2), but this does not bother me
5/5

The REAL advantage of this device is that it tells you when your fermentation is finished! The "flatline" effect you get at the end of fermentation (see photo) can help you figure this out. This informs me EXACTLY when the job is completed. Those who are concerned about connecting to a device should not be. It was connected to an old cellphone of mine. When I was 30 feet away, I brought the phone in from the garage and began receiving updates. That may not seem like a long distance, but when you consider the Tilt was in a plastic fermenter in my chest freezer fermentation chamber, it is. br>br>I understand it's more expensive than a standard hydrometer. But consider this: There will be no more squandering of beer on taste tests. When taking samples, there is no longer any oxygen ingress or risk of infection. All you have to do is let it ferment, then remove the Tilt from the fermenter after you've transferred it to a bottling bucket or keg. It doesn't get any more straightforward than that! You will need to clean and sanitize it before starting the next batch, but this is a simple process. br>br>If you've been debating whether or not to get one, now is the time. You're not going to be let down.

Fermentation data that is updated on a regular basis and is sanitary
3/5

Pros: Without taking a sample, it is simple to tell when fermentation begins and ends. br>Near-constant databr>Hosted Google Sheets site that is already configured and simple to use. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product. For continuous readings, you'll need a dedicated smart device in "always on" mode. br>Blue tooth range is limited - To get a reading, the smart device needs to be close to the fermenter. br>Cannot communicate through all fermentation chambers (my phone needs to be inside the fridge, and some conicals won't work with it). br>This task necessitates the use of multiple computers. starter pitch, krausen, fermenter walls, CO2, and other factors can throw off gravity readings. br>The enclosed manual makes no mention of the required multi-point calibration. The "krausen-point calibration," as it's also known, is a method of calculating the distance between two When fermentation begins, there is an "effect" that causes the gravity reading to rise (yeah, rise). br>Pricebr>br>My most significant advantage is the ability to obtain three consecutive days of static hydrometer readings to determine whether fermentation has stopped. With this device, I've noticed that the end of fermentation takes longer than I could tell from hydrometer readings, and it's prompted me to leave my fermentations for a few days longer than I would have otherwise. br>br>Improvementsbr>The device could connect to a PC app via wifi rather than Bluetooth. Then there would be no need to waste a smart device (and its screen!). br>Include the sensitivity to PBW in the enclosed material (mine sat in PBW for 2 days before I read on the website that it could be harmful). ), and the krausen-type krausen-type krausen-type effect, as well as the multi-tasking that it necessitates calibration of the points Alternatively, simply include a link to your website and remove the "Quickstart" designation, which implies that the device is ready to use when it arrives. br>Value for money - You could make one of these with $30 in off-the-shelf materials. the- Because the device is made up of off-the-shelf components (accelerometer, blue tooth module, microcontroller), charging $130 for it is ridiculous.

A five-star rating for a faulty product? Read on
5/5

I've bought a few of these units and can attest to the fact that they're excellent and well worth the money! After only one use, this one stopped working, so I contacted the seller to see if it could be replaced. I sent an email with photos and a detailed account of the situation. Several days passed, followed by several more. Nothing. No response. br>I then sent the same email to the unit's actual manufacturer, and within 10 minutes, I received a very nice response, a pre-paid gift card. They provided a pre-paid return label as well as a tracking number for the replacement they were sending. Awesome! br>So, even though this one failed, it's still a great product that you should buy if you're serious about beer brewing. Five stars are not enough for the manufacturer (Baron Brewing), who provide absolutely outstanding customer service. br>br>As for the Amazon reseller, I'm still waiting for a response. ah, well!.

This is something I really enjoy! I just finished my first fermentation with the Tilt, and it's fantastic
5/5

It's simple to use, and I recommend it to anyone who wants to keep a close eye on their beer, mead, or wine fermentation. Before using, I double-checked the calibration in water, and the gravity and temperature readings were accurate. When pitching yeast, I sanitized the Tilt and dropped it into the wort; I used an old phone to connect to the Tilt via bluetooth, and the connection was strong even though I ferment in a stainless steel corny keg. At www. I created a free account. brewstat. We used wifi to connect the Tilt to our account. Bingo. Any computer now allows me to monitor gravity and temperature. This was helpful for me during the ferment because it allowed me to easily determine when to cap off the spinning valve to allow for natural carbonation in the keg. I'm also excited to use the Tilt to figure out when to stop mead fermentations before they get too dry. This is an excellent item.

If you've got a magic carboy, this is fantastic
3/5

I imagine it would work well in a glass carboy or a magic carboy. In my stainless steel fermenter for spike brewing, it's pretty useless. After a brief connection, the device went dead after ten minutes. What a frustrating waste of time, I'm going back to simply taking a sample.
