Questions & Answers

When it's certified by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), it'll be on the market. Is the nist certification only for the instrument or also for the thermocouple?

A thermocouple does not need to be calibrated. The thermocouples are fairly sensitive, and we had to replace them frequently during our testing. The NIST calibration is not affected by changing thermocouples.

Is there a magnetic hanger strap included?

There isn't a strap included. It also doesn't come with a carrying case.

Is it true that these are made in the United States of America? Normally, if this is the case, the advertisement will make a big deal about it; however, this one did not. ?

Fluke 51 is a fictional character. 2 is made outside of the United States.

Is it possible to leave the probe inside my gas-fired forge and read the temperature to determine heat treat temperatures on different steels? Almost twice a week, if not more frequently?

If you plan on leaving it in for more than two weeks, a stainless steel probe is recommended. What is the temperature range, and I can inquire about Fluke's recommendations.

This is the gold standard, with a score of - It was priced at $80, which is why I purchased it. According to Fluke, it does not go that low. They proposed a fee of 1500 dollars. 00 to get a new meter This one is exactly what I'm looking for.

For HVAC, the best temperature meter! In 15 years of working in the HVAC industry, this is the most accurate temperature meter I've ever used
5/5

I have one, as do two of my installers/techs, and I find it difficult to trust anything other than these. This price is difficult to beat, and delivery was lightning fast.

The rubber shroud is a good example of this
5/5

The Fluke unit is small enough to fit in one hand and is simple to operate in our shop. The rubber housing is a big plus because the equipment is moved around a lot and is bound to get a few scrapes and bumps. The temperature readings are quick and the digital display is easy to read. This model is well suited for a manufacturing environment, so I'll be purchasing more units soon.

The packaging is severely shattered
3/5

Batteries were already installed when the product was delivered. I believe it was previously owned but was advertised as new. During shipping, the packaging was damaged. I didn't even bother to use it. The following day, I returned home.

This is an excellent thermometer for a welding shop
5/5

I bought this a few months ago to keep track of the temperatures in our aluminum welding shop's interpass. It's simple to use and gives you accurate results quickly. The exterior is fairly tough, and it would most likely survive a few foot drop. A weld shop would be ideal for this. We also purchased an 80PK. 3A probe, which I don't think I'll need in the future - It also came at a cost. The probe that comes with the unit is as simple as they come, but it does the job.
