It's held in the air by you. It's calibrated if it shows "0." If it reads something, you should toss it and get a new one.
EC - Conductivity of electricity - > The higher the conductivity, the more dissolved solids there are. It's just a different way of measuring purity, but in the United States, the parts-per-million method is used. per- The other scale accounts for various dissolved solids based on their conductivity, but when we're talking about drinking water in the United States, we're mostly concerned with calcium (hardness), and not as much with electrical conductivity.
This water meter is used to determine TDS levels. Total Dissolved Solids, but I have no idea what those dissolved solids are. For example, if the TDS meter reads 300 ppm, it could contain benzene, calcium, magnesium, chlorine, fluorine, and other impurities, all of which are 300 ppm, but you won't know if and how much benzene is present.
Dear customer, please test pure water first, comparing pure water to tap water, then you will notice the difference; if it still doesn't work, you can try changing the battery; if you have any questions, please contact us directly by email; thank you!

I bought this to see how effective the membrane on my RO system is. I knew it was time for my annual filter change, and I had a feeling my RO membrane was on its last legs. I bought this a week before ordering my filters and used it to double-check that the membrane was indeed shot (which meant I needed all four filters, not just the other three). I got readings of around 180ppm, which was only slightly lower than what I was getting from my tap water. I was skeptical because I assumed that the other three filters in the RO system would reduce TDS a little more (albeit not to RO quality), but I was wrong. br>br>As a result, I ordered all four filters from Amazon. I sanitized the system and changed the filters the following weekend. I flushed the system with two tanks of water (to remove any impurities) and took a reading near the end of the second tank. The RO system showed a reading in the 40s, while my tap water showed a reading in the 180s - I took a second set of alternate readings and found that they were all consistent - The meter correctly identified the different TDS levels, with RO around 40 and tap water in the 180s. My RO system was down to 35 after another two tanks of flushing, but my tap water was still in the 180s. br>br>The red/green backlighting is as follows: This meter's threshold is set to a very low value - If you don't have access to water, In addition to the reading, you will receive a red backlight. While it's perfectly safe and typical of tap water, the temperature ranges from 100 to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. It will be backlit in red at 300ppm to indicate that it is not ideal. The backlighting will turn green if your water is close to perfect. br>br>Another thing to keep in mind is that Last year, I bought a similar meter here, but despite the fact that it said it had a 2032 battery, the battery was soldered to the board and could not be replaced. So I returned it because I didn't want to use a disposable meter. This one is not only detachable, but it also came with two extra 2032 batteries when I ordered it.
I tested it multiple times in different waters that I had readings of and it was 100% accurate each and every time. Great for camping, job site work, curiosity, and just nerdy br>br>The product came with a leather pouch and two extra batteries, in addition to the device's own battery. br>br>I am extremely pleased with my finished product!.
The device is extremely simple to operate and was reasonably priced, which are both advantages. The device's actual function, however, is not so positive; however, the TDS portion of the device is accurate. I tested water for which I knew the TDS and found it to be very close to what I had expected. The temperature part of this device, on the other hand, does not work at all; I have never had it accurately read a temperature. I put it in water that was 90 degrees Fahrenheit just before writing this review. It was supposed to be 100 degrees Fahrenheit, but it was only 62 degrees Fahrenheit. Water that is warm or hot to the touch is not 62 degrees, I guarantee it. The system is only partially functional, which makes me very unhappy.
I bought it primarily to aid in the quantification of silver concentrations while making my own colloidal silver, and it appears to be performing admirably. It's also nice to contribute to keeping my water company honest; with access to known particulate values, this unit appears to be extremely accurate thus far. Water companies, of course, use units that cost hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars. So I'll consider this a huge win if it even comes close to known values. It's also never a bad idea to have a second thermometer on hand. This one appears to only show the temperature of the air, not the temperature of the water. Overall, if you're concerned about the quality of your water, this is an excellent device to have on hand. br>br>Note: If you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, try using the words "creative This only measures total dissolved solids (salts, minerals, and the like), not total suspended solids (sand, or other non-dissolvable materials).
Yes, this TDS meter alleviates my concern about the efficiency of my RO system. I was concerned that the filters I'd had in place for more than a year weren't functioning properly. WRONG! The TDS meter indicated that the system is in perfect working order (at 5 ppm), whereas my softened water, that is, water that has not been through the RO system, has a TDS of 254 ppm. This meter has exceeded my expectations, and I only wish I had purchased it sooner! I turned it on right away after removing it from the box and case, double-checking that the battery, which had already been installed, was inserted correctly (which it was). The meter's "home" is a nice case, and the seller included two more (extra) button batteries in the box. This meter, along with its accessories (case and extra batteries), comes highly recommended by me.
This is an excellent meter for the price. I bought this because of the wide range, as I use it to test the TDS in my swimming pool. I have two more, one of which is an expensive Corning meter with a range of 2000 PPM, whereas my second TDS meter, which is used to check RO systems, only goes to 1000 PPM. Because the TDS in a swimming pool can easily exceed 3000, both of my other meters would quickly reach their limits. However, when compared to the Corning meter, this one seems to read approximately 7% high when checking tap water. My Corning meter reads 580 PPM, while this one reads around 620. I trust the Corning unit more because it was designed for industrial use and calibrated, but I don't have any test solutions to prove it, so who knows. In any case, it's perfectly adequate for what I'm using it for. I also like how the backlight changes color depending on the quality of the water. This is a nice addition.
This was purchased to determine TDS levels in a freshwater aquarium. I tested a variety of water sources to ensure that the results were accurate. Kirkland drinking water = 20, Nestle drinking water = 27, Primo refilled drinking water = 78, my RO filter (bought it last week on Amazon) = 7, and my home tab water is around 180. When I used a tester from a different manufacturer ten years ago, the tab water was near 200. The meter, in my opinion, is correct. It should make my neon tetra fish happy:.
