Questions & Answers

Is it intended for use with fresh or salt water?

The concentration of undissolved, suspended particles in a liquid is referred to as turbidity. br>Turbidity refers to a sample's clarity. Turbidity is a good indicator of water quality when it comes to potable water. br>The amount of light refracted from suspended particles such as clay, silt, and organic material is used to determine turbidity. br>Suspended solids content can be estimated by measuring turbidity using photometric or tube methods.

Is there a way to make wine out of it?

Yes.

Is this product in accordance with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)?

I can't say for certain because I don't work for the EPA, but it measures in FNUs, which are the same as NTUs, which is how the EPA measures turbidity, so you should be fine. Our project received no complaints from inspectors.

Is it possible to use this to determine the turbidity of smoke produced by a typical fog machine?

This unit was purchased for a client to measure the turbidity of water. The calibration solution is suitable for both liquids and solids. I don't think it's for smoke, but you should double-check with the company.

Selected User Reviews For Milwaukee Mi415 Turbidity Meter, 0.00 - 50.00 FNU/50 - 1000 FNU, 0.01/1 FNU Resolution

There are two different versions
5/5

One is for seawater and the other is for fresh water. Make certain you're buying the right one. For determining turbidity in water, this is a very reliable and accurate meter. Selecting a model should be done with caution. The one for fresh water is different from the one for marine or salt water. On the case or the instrument, there are no markings. The instructions and the salinity range are the only things that are mentioned. Any seller could be unaware of the distinction and sell it as is. You will be very pleased if you know what you require and purchase the appropriate instrument.

The meter worked well and was simple to operate
4/5

The meter worked well and was simple to operate. The only drawback was the limited supply of calibration liquid. A third vial would be useful for storing and using calibration liquid for a longer period of time.

Inconsistent readings due to inability to calibrate the device
3/5

Poor instructions; I was unable to calibrate this item because it displayed an air regardless of the procedure used; it is not recommended.

The meter is fantastic, and it's very easy to use. The very flimsy, low-cost carry case disappointed me greatly. It isn't safe in the least.
