Brewing America has now sold me a second "kit" -- the first was an alcohol meter and a The two times I've purchased from you, I have been pleasantly surprised. The following information applies to this unit This thermometer/hydrometer combo measures temperature and water levels In the beginning, once I received the unit, I chilled some distilled water so that I could calibrate it. The hydrometer showed 1 on my reading, which I was delighted to discover. I had a distilled water bath of 5000 in 60F. Simply note in permanent marker on the plastic storage tube, "+0. The device I bought was intended for measuring some 95% and 100% alcohol that I bought for extracting essential oils and propolis however, I might have bought the wrong device for the wrong purpose In my surprise, after reading the instructions, I added the alcohol liquid 3/4 full and dropped the meter in, I am glad it did not break, however it sank as soon as I released it So I put the alcohol liquid in my pocket and replaced it with rubbing alcohol from my workplace. . . Guess what, it dropped again. So you'd think it's not rocket science to figure out that two sources of alcohol can't be wrong with this thing being Like I mentioned, I'm not going to bash the company for its product, because the unit is beautiful, well designed and easy to handle, and, unless I'm dumb or have the wrong tool for the wrong task, this unit works as well as it possibly can.
There is a more durable hydrometer (still delicate but more durable) and a sturdy borosilicate jar with a bumper included. It is even better that the test jar is only 4 ounces, compared to 6 ounces in others By reducing the size of the measuring cup, I lose less wort or beer to gravity measurement, and when I bump the jar over, I am protected by the bumper. Packaged in a convenient box with a brush and polish cloth included, this product is very easy to clean. They make high-quality As for me, I have the one with the thermometer and I'm glad I have that one since it provides accurate measurements My needs are specific, and I want everything in one place on a busy brew day. You don't have to waste a lot of liquid since the test tube is of high quality and uses much less liquid than other companies' products. You can see that this is a very durable product that will last for a very long time. Furthermore, the people at this business are really nice and they provide great customer service. If you ever have an issue, they'll get right back to you and help you out.
I purchased this hydrometer a couple of months ago and measured the specific gravity with my reverse osmosis brewing water and received a reading of about I thought I might be getting a defective item each time I received a 990. Within minutes of contacting Brewing America, I received an email reply advising me to check the calibration with distilled water if possible. After receiving another email two days later, I received a request to check in and see if I had taken the hydrometer out to test it In reality, the hydrometer indicated that spot-on was missing from the reading when I finally picked up some distilled water to test it Here are the numbers 1 to 4. Just like it should, the number is 000. Initially, I thought there was something wrong with my hydrometer, but the company was very quick and professional to explain the process of checking its calibration and reassuring me that if it were defective, I would get a replacement hydrometer.
The meter that I purchased has a high quality made thermo/hydro meter. I searched high and low for one like this. they sent it to me, I noticed mine was a tad off, so I understood that I could have fixed it, but no, they will send me another free of charge just to make sure I am pleased! I will never purchase a hydrometer from anybody other than them because they genuinely want their customers to be satisfied. Their products and services are amazing!
