As described, this is just as expected! The product is of good quality and works perfectly. In this case, I misunderstood that the amaro I'm making is fermented, not strictly distilled, since water and simple syrup are added (as well as some other things). As a consequence, I cannot use it to test ABV% since I thought I could. My mistake was thinking it was a distilled spirit, because it is made of grain alcohol that is distilled (with roots, herbs, citrus added). Some distilled spirits that I have (such as gin) have matched the percentages on the labels. I have no complaints about how easy it is When it's finished, I will be able to determine the ABV of my amaro using a mathematical equation.
I am not sure how long these things should last. I have had mys for approximately 6 months and I was holding it to put it back into the safety case when it broke. I made sure to clean it after every single use.
