When filled to the top lip, the Brewing America Glass Hydrometer Test Jar holds about 170ml of liquid. However, because of displacement, when taking hydrometer readings, you'll only want to add about 125ml of test brew/liquid (about 75% full) or your liquid will overflow.
Without a doubt! It's what we use all the time to make our own wine, and you'll love it! If you have any further questions, please contact us!
It isn't faulty in any way. It calculates the amount of alcohol in your homemade beer or wine by measuring the amount of dissolved sugar in the wort or must before and after fermentation. The formula is simple to find online. The gravity of your wort will increase as the amount of sugars in it increases.

the replacement I 100% didn t expect arrived today WITH A HAND WRITTEN LETTER FROM THE MANUFACTURER apologizing for their (very minor) mistake The new hydrometer showed a reading of exactly one. 000 with distilled water at 60 degrees Fahrenheit It doesn't get any better than this. For the $35 price tag, this product is a no-brainer. Either it will be within tolerance, or they will replace it with one that is. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> Because my order was slightly out of tolerance, the vendor contacted me almost immediately and offered to send me a replacement. I'm glad to see they're so confident in their product. br>If yours is out of calibration, I'm confident they'll fix it. Once again, I appreciate your help. ORIGINAL: ORIGINAL: ORIGINAL: ORIGINAL: ORIGINAL: ORIGINAL: ORIGIN The readings for distilled water and tap water are both zero. 997 g/cc. If you know how far off yours is, this is a good app to have, but keep in mind that it isn't perfect.
It was a fantastic tool to have on hand. Unfortunately, I only got to use it once because the first cleaning with the provided brush cleaner resulted in the top breaking off in a junk the size of half a credit card, so I'll have to buy another tube to continue using it. This doesn't appear to be as durable as they claim. It also states that it is dishwasher safe, which leads me to believe that it should not have broken off in the first place. EDIT UPDATE: br>br> I'm giving it a four-star rating because the customer service is fantastic. I received a full refund for my purchase today, despite the fact that I had not requested one. They went above and beyond by reading my review and issuing a refund. Not only is this excellent customer service, but I'm going to buy another kit (possibly because the one I had was slightly defective) to give it another shot. Thank you very much. Congratulations to Brewing America and Angela!.
It doesn't appear to work for kombucha; the readings will be off due to the different alcohols and acids in kombucha. As a result, it was essentially a financial waste. They are engaging in deceptive marketing.
This was a gift for my husband, who was itching to make a chocolate porter. He brewed his first batch the next day after receiving it and raved about how much better it was than the previous four he'd tried. The glass was more durable, the text was easier to read, and everything was extremely well packed. The brush comes in handy because I'm usually the one who cleans up after him. He also mentioned that the conversion card was very nice, and that it is now on the keg'o'rator under a magnet. I'm glad I took the risk and went with the more expensive option. Now the holidays will be a little more calorie-dense and a lot more enjoyable! What you pay for is definitely what you get!.
Definitely worth it! This is without a doubt one of the best measuring glasses I've ever received. It survived even after being smashed in shipping (see box photo). br>br>The test cylinder is made of *heavy* borosilicate glass (i. e. , Pyrex). When I first picked it up, I was taken aback. It has a silky texture and a powerful presence. This will most likely last me forever with the bumper. br>br>Also, the hydrometer is a good weight. Obviously, it can't be too heavy, but it doesn't appear to be susceptible to abuse. It clearly depicts all three scales, as well as Specific Gravity. Sugar content as a percentage of total weight; Potential Alcohol by Volume is a term used to describe the amount of alcohol that can be consumed Once temperature is taken into account, it appears to be perfectly accurate so far. The temperature in our house is always between 72 and 74 degrees. For this reason, a char has been included. The correction for Specific Gravity is a zero. 002 is the Brix correction, and the Brix correction is 0. br>br>If you misplace your instructions, they are also available on their website.
I began by looking at the inexpensive hydrometers; after all, who wants to spend more money than necessary? This one was out of my price range when I first saw it, until I realized how important accuracy was. I intend to make home brew for many years to come, so saving money on such an important instrument was not an option. The fact that it was made in America appealed to me as well, because so many things aren't. The glass work is pristine, and the box it comes in is decent and well padded (suitable for years of protective storage). I am very pleased with the quality and clarity of the three scales; the glass work is pristine, and the box it comes in is decent and well padded (suitable for years of protective storage). There will be no disappointments.
I'm very pleased with how simple it is to use. The numbers are large and easy to read, and the colors are pleasing. br>Well, after only a few uses, I noticed some small bubbles coming from the test tube when I inserted it in some 110deg wort, and upon closer inspection, I discovered a very small crack in the unit's bulb. Now that I'm aware of how delicate these are, I've always used them with caution. So I contacted Brewing America, explained my situation, and they promptly dispatched a replacement. br>With a stick, you can't beat that. I would buy from them again in a heartbeat.
a hydrometer of exceptional quality. All of them are made of glass, which makes them much better and easier to read than those that come with a plastic test tube. In addition, the business is excellent. When I contacted them about a minor issue that turned out to be a product defect, they immediately sent me a replacement with a HANDWRITTEN note! wow. I'm blown away by how well they treat their clients. It's well worth the extra money to get something of good quality.
