Questions & Answers

I'm not sure where I can get a new probe. ?

Bud, you're on the right track with Amazon. If you search for Hm digital ph meter replacement probe, you'll find that they cost $30.

On the 18th of December, 2013, I received it. Up until yesterday, everything was fine. calibration is now set to ten. 00 when calibrating with a 7. Please let me know if you have any other suggestions. ?

At the very tip, you shattered the glass bulb. That's exactly what occurred to me. Get a second one as soon as possible and buy one of the less than $20 ones as a backup because they react faster. I see you have at least one calibration solution, which is great, but it would be even better if you had four. 01, and the way you're doing it, you're only calibrating the high end.

The importance of maintenance cannot be overstated

Getting a 1L bottle of General Hydroponics (or equivalent) pH 7 is essential for keeping these glass electrode pH sensors in good working order. Using no calibration/storage solution and not storing the glass tip in the case provided. It takes a lot more liquid than the sponge topper can hold. I keep my pH 7 solution in a small plastic Rubbermaid container. In the bottom, there isn't any liquid. The electrode will be useless if you try to use it with the cap on (read: quickly (inaccurate) br>br>1) Set the calibration to 7. 0 before each usebr>2) Quickly rinse electrode in RO/DI/distilled waterbr>3) Dab dry, DO NOT rub glassbr>4) Measure solution in questionbr>5) Rinse electrode in RO/DI/distilled waterbr>6) Return to pH 7 container of choice 0 calibration/storage solutionbr>br>If done correctly, these actually get BETTER with time. They don't have nearly enough solution around the electrode when they leave the factory, so it takes a long time for them to get back to normal. Personally, I keep my meter in a 25mL bottle of pH 7 General Hydroponics. 0 calibration/storage solution; every time I use it, I follow the above SOP, and it's only gotten more accurate over time. br>br>Don't get one if you aren't willing to put in the effort to keep it up to date. I work in a chemistry lab, and we follow the SOP above to care for all of our expensive analytical glass electrode pH meters, which cost tens of thousands of dollars.

I was unable to calibrate

This is the third sensor I've used. Then I shattered the glass tip on the first one. I wasn't sure if it worked, but it seemed to. On Amazon, I found a replacement sensor for $23. It functioned for a while, but after two months of storage, it refused to calibrate. Yes, I used the proper HM Digitial fluid to store it. So, in case the second sensor was an older model, I ordered the HM PH- For around $32, you can get a 200 sensor replacement directly from HM Digital through Amazon. For the first three weeks, everything was fine. Plants that require a pH of 6 are grown in my home. 0 to 6. I use a pH of 7 as a calibration solution. 0 and 4. Neither of the calibration fluids could be used. The meter would occasionally show that it was outside of range. Finally, with the help of the 4, I was able to achieve automatic calibration. a single answer After that, I looked at the pH of the 7. There is no answer. The meter showed a reading of 10. Furthermore, the meter never reached a state of equilibrium. It was always going up by a factor of two. If I left it in the solution for three minutes, it would be number one. The 4. , for instance. The pH of the 01 calibration solution eventually rose to 5. After three minutes, the score is 32. After that, I reset to factory defaults and tried the automatic calibration once more. The results are the same. Either the sensor is malfunctioning or the meter as a whole is malfunctioning. I'm not a big fan of HM Digital. So far, I've spent around $125 on a pH meter that I don't trust; unfortunately, the return window for this order closed a week ago, so I'm out of luck.

During the course of two months, There are six sensors on this device

I still can't figure out what a solution's pH is! This is a joke! The product arrived as dry as a salt lick, as others have stated. Okay. There is nothing to be concerned about. Simply add some KCl to rehydrate. br>br>All right, let's get started. I did exactly that! To rehydrate, soak in KCl for 24 hours. I calibrated with Hanna 7 once I'd rehydrated. 01 as well as number four 01 buffer solutions, followed by another overnight soak in KCl. What is the final conclusion? junk! br>br>I just checked the sensor, and it shows a reading of 7. When it comes to pH, it should be 7 instead of 84. 01 pH! Who has time to re-write a book? Every time you use something, do you calibrate it? There's no way I'm trusting this sensor.

. I'm stuck because I'm the owner of the pH meter! I'm going to order another. Hopefully, it arrived in good working order. br>br>NOTE: THIS PAGE HAS BEEN UPDATED. They quickly sent out a replacement. Thank you very much. HOWEVER. They had clearly rehydrated it before shipping it. What makes you think that? because the inside of the small container that holds the sensor was wet! DUH! the vast majority of individuals I would guess-- Whoever orders these is not a moron! Ha! br>br>In Organic Chemistry Lab, the first thing I learned about Ph meters was that "IF IT DIES, IT DIES. " They're sending equipment that's already dead! br>br>When I get the third one, I'll give you another update. until that time comes cheers! br>br>Updated on February 25th. My third sensor is still missing from my package. I've already returned the other two. waiting. THE FIRST ORDER WAS PLACED ON THE 17TH OF JANUARY! I haven't been able to check my pH since over a month. br>br>Last update on March 26th. I finally got a working sensor after 5 attempts! Sheesh. Over the course of two months, five sensors have been installed. Amazon, on the other hand, deserves praise for persevering. it works!

. Of course, after spending so much time and effort to get a working product, it's no surprise that this product only gets a one star rating. Updated on April 3rd. It's not going to work! For a day, a pH was held. now? There isn't even a pH indicator! wtf?.

It turned out to be a good decision

As others have complained about, my pen came with a dry probe when I ordered it from Amazon. I soaked the probe in the solution overnight and then re-tested it the next day. My pen had been calibrated. For a few months, it worked perfectly. I started storing my pen in a glass with a little solution to keep it wet at all times. However, I didn't use the pen for a few weeks in between grows. My glass was empty of the solution. The pen would no longer hold calibration after it had dried out. As a result, I placed an order for a replacement probe. It arrived wet and in a sealed container. My pen calibrated without a hitch once I had it on. br>br>I believe the dry probes that come with the pens are fine because they are packed with something salty. Simply leave it to soak overnight. It'll probably work fine; mine did, despite the fact that it came with a dry probe. Allowing the probe to dry out after the first use, on the other hand, will result in a problem.
