Questions & Answers

Is 2 gpm the minimum flow required to operate the switch? Is it possible to reduce that to if so? 5 gpm?

The flow rate that triggers the switch cannot be changed, in my opinion. In my experience, it is not adjustable.

Is this item compatible with 3/4-inch schedule 80 pvc?

Yes, it does, assuming you're talking about the 3/4" switch. Due to the fact that the switch body is only rated for 120 PSIG, the extra wall thickness of schedule 80 pipe is of no use.

What voltage is required for this to function?

Type of Switch: SPST, N. The specifications are shown as (20VA). This is for pilot service, which means it will be used only once. To switch a significant load, an interposing relay is required.

Is there anything made of metal inside? Is it suitable for use in a saltwater environment?

I’m’m pretty sure that it is just a float with a magnet embedded in it and that when the float rises up it somehow trips a switch through the plastic

It works, but installation should be done with caution
4/5

The flow switch works great, but there was a small leak at the switch when I first installed it in my home's water system because I didn't glue the PVC pipe into the switch well enough. I ended up having to re-cut the entire thing. I was fortunate enough to be able to remove the PVC pipe from the switch and begin again. Because this switch is not made of the same material or has the same geometry as a standard PVC fitting, make sure everything is clean, the pipe is fully seated in the switch, and enough PVC cement is used.

Excellent switch for low-volume flow
5/5

When only one faucet is turned on, the switch will make a noise. It's being used to turn on a chlorination pump by triggering a relay.
