Do the contacts open and close instantly depending on whether there is flow or not? Is it possible to use it to turn on and off the water circulation pump?

My order was never delivered in a timely fashion. I was never sent the paddle to turn on the flow switch. I would never advise anyone to use a Baomain flow paddle switch or anything else made by Baomain.

I'm afraid I can't help you because they never sent the float paddle with the main body part, and when I told them the order wasn't filled correctly, they simply ignored me.

What is the smallest amount of flow required to activate the switch?

I installed this on my hot water heating system to alert me if the circulation pump fails. 3/4" lines, 1/25hp Taco pump, probably around 5gpm, and I couldn't get it to switch even after completely removing the spring; I assume this is for high volume or high velocity flows.
