Questions & Answers

What is the accuracy of the temperature and humidity sensors?

It's extremely accurate.

Is this a completed project? Freezer with a temperature of 40 degrees F?

No, it's not going to work. The MX1101 logger's temperature range is specified as - Temperatures range from 20 to 70 degrees Celsius (-). The temperature ranges from 4 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit. I would advise you to use the UX100- A thermocouple probe is included with the 014M logger. Only the thermocouple wire would be fed into the freezer itself, as the logger would be mounted on the outside. Please let me know if there's anything else I can do to help you out.

Is it possible for the Hoboware software to use the collected data as well?

To connect to and work with the MX1101 logger, you must first download and install the HOBOmobile app. You can, however, save your data files as a HOBOware file that includes data, logger events, and details, as well as information about the file and each data series. The file can then be emailed or copied and opened in HOBOware.

Although it is simple to set up and use, the quality is poor
3/5

Setting up and configuring this unit is a breeze. It has upper and lower temperature and relative humidity alerts, as well as an audible alert if desired. The data can be exported in Excel, text, or an image with ease. The mobile app has excellent connectivity and, if desired, provides security access. Only the power supply is a drawback. I'll need to keep AAA batteries on hand, and taking the unit down, opening it up, swapping batteries, and rehanging it is inconvenient. From ilastore, I purchased a different data logger. Stay away from that merchant and that product in the United States!br>br>Update 12/8/2016: This unit had been on the wall for a month, presumably collecting data, but when I returned to collect the data, it had stopped working. The merchant took advantage of the 30-day support window and decided not to provide any assistance (they got their money. . . see ya). So, while it is simple to use and appears to be simple to obtain information from, it is clearly a piece of garbage. I'm now forced to contact the manufacturer in the hopes of receiving assistance, but I'm not holding my breath.

Bluetooth Range is Good, and Storage Capacity is High
5/5

To collect temperature and RH data, I mounted this in a server room rack. I really wanted to be able to walk by and collect my data without having to enter the space because it's in a locked room with keycard access control. br>br>I've discovered that I can easily collect data via bluetooth to my smartphone from a distance of about 50 feet through the door and walls. In fact, there's a small bench down the hall where I can sit and get my reading materials. I've been collecting continuous data since May 25th (just over a month), and the datalogger memory (T, RH, Max, Min) is still not full. The graphs produced are very attractive and easy to read - raw data is available in CSV and other useful formats, and it is suitable for presentation. With a single click, you can send an SMS, email, or other type of message. The usability and data retention of this unit have both wowed me. The battery life is also very good. The user app is excellent and simple to use. br>br> I tested accuracy by putting this little logger in another server room with an expensive, dedicated monitoring unit, and found excellent agreement between temperature and RH values. br>br>I have no complaints about this logger so far. For the price, this is an excellent performance.

Exceptional – One new feature would be beneficial
4/5

This unit appeals to me because it is simple to set up and produces long-term spreadsheet results. If you have a question, the customer service is quick to respond. The only drawback is that there is no way to calibrate the unit. If you need to adjust the humidity reading, you can only do so after you've created a readout. In other words, if the humidity value on your spreadhseet reads 2% high, you will have to subtract 2% from the humidity value on your spreadhseet humidity value on your spread.

Great for keeping track of things
5/5

I'm trying to figure out how to deal with a moisture problem in my home. But first and foremost, I required information on how bad it was and when it occurred. This tool has proven to be extremely useful in gathering that data. Pairing with my phone's app and downloading data was a breeze. (The app's user interface could use some love, but it works. ).

A valuable addition to the Diagnosis Toolbox
5/5

This is a fantastic little data logger. Use your phone to connect to BlueTooth. It is not possible to connect to the internet via wifi. It appears to work within a 20-foot range, making it ideal for stuffing in an attic and reading without having to climb up. I used it to see how wet a section of my basement became after spraying foam on the walls. It's now safe to store, according to my findings. The batteries have lasted for 4 months and I don't think they're down a bar yet, proving that I need to fix the ventilation in my garage because it's too damp. This is a very useful tool.

MX1101 isn't guaranteed to work
3/5

The day I got it, the unit worked. It didn't have the same range of connectivity as my cheaper units, but it did the job. The device and app have a good set of features. I was unable to connect to the device the following day. I tried all of the typical fixes (power cycling the MX1101 and the phone, turning Bluetooth on and off). Nothing seemed to work. The unit would show a strong connection signal from time to time, but the signal would quickly fade. I couldn't get it to connect, and it would periodically shut down while it was trying to connect. br>br>I spent a lot of time on the phone with Mike from Onset tech support, who is a fantastic guy. My phone (Moto G Gen 3), which runs Android 6. 0. 1, has been confirmed. We tried everything he could think of, including version 0 and app version. When the unit would not connect, his best guess was that it was defective, and all he could say was that I should contact the seller. br>br>When I contacted Tequipment (the seller), a friendly representative took a few moments to gather all of my information. They were about to issue me an RMA when they realized they couldn't help me because my order had been fulfilled by Amazon. I was told I needed to contact Amazon at that point. br>br>If you don't count the time you waste printing labels and driving to the post office, the Amazon return process is fairly painless. I returned it and am not going to order another one. I don't believe the app or the MX1101 are yet ready for prime time. For about a third of the price, there are other units that work just as well (albeit with fewer features), and the MX1101 would have been worth the money I paid for it if it had worked. However, no feature is worth anything if you can't access your data when you need it. br>br>I would not advise anyone to buy this unit.

Greenhouse monitoring 92% rh =100% on Hobo is useless for greenhouse monitoring on Hobo is useless for greenhouse monitoring on When it worked, it was fine
3/5

The humidity sensor (which is unrepairable) is wiped out by very small amounts of water, rendering it useless as a temperature logger.

It's a great tool
5/5

For years, I've been using older hobo data loggers that required me to carry a laptop with me when I deployed them in the field. This Bluetooth data logger has been a huge help. I also like that it has an LCD readout, which means you can use it without connecting it if you just want to check the current temperature. I had an LG G Stylo and had trouble connecting them, but they've been great otherwise. The Bluetooth on the Stylo has been rumored to be problematic.
