Because my 7-year-old is fascinated by science, she received this as a gift for her birthday. I love that this was small and easy for her to store because she has so much stuff in her small room. It's also fantastic because she can take it to the park with her and use it wherever she wants. We've seen and learned everything there is to know about bugs, including how they look, how big their eyes are on flies, and so on. It's very clear and detailed, and it piques her interest in learning and discovering new things. I think this is a fantastic gift for kids, one that they will enjoy for a long time and won't take up too much room.
For the money, it's a great deal. Because the instructions on that were not clear to me, I needed assistance in installing it. On the microscope, there is a convenient zoom button as well as a photo button. This microscope seems like it could be useful for determining whether gemstones are genuine, inspecting precision work, and so on. It's also fascinating and magical to see things magnified so much. The USB cable folds down to the point where it could theoretically be plugged into an Android phone; however, I have yet to test it.
