Toner of this quality is very nice. Build quality is good, and it doesn't feel cheap or plasticky at all. It was hard for me to tone RJ45 to Since the toner uses a RJ11 connector, it only transmits the tone down 3 wires instead of 8, so the sound is very faint. In order to resolve this issue, I stripped back a cat 5 cable, twisted the eight wires together and crimped them together. I have now been able to trace the wires and use all eight wires to send the tone. I find it to be very helpful and it saves me.

You've really saved me time. Upon purchasing this signal generator, I was hoping to diagnose a bad 120-volt electrical system The electrical system in my motorhome is 12 volts. The schematics could not be used and the manufacturer was bought by another who said they did not have any either. Electrical circuits can be severely damaged by the use of this tool. I could not use the outlets behind the TV in the front of the hotel. Behind an outlet by the TV in the bedroom, I noticed that there was a Romex cable. With the conductors and the outlets in front, I attempted a continuity test, but it failed. It is believed that the front Romez faded into the wall that was used Despite my best efforts, I am unable to energize my generator, which I have to use in order to trace house circuits. This one was very well organized and had everything it needed straight out of the box when it arrived. You never have to worry about quality with them. It is possible that I am biased because I own almost everything Klein, but I don't have to speak highly of it for it to be a quality product. I have saved myself many headaches in attics trying to locate a wire that, yes, was underneath several layers of spray foam insulation that ran the entire length of a house. The wand's accurate readings, multiple tone frequencies, and great range has made my work better. My tool kit will not be complete without this.

This probe was purchased along with the Scout Pro2 series, which is shown under "Kudos also bought". The Scout Pro2 instructions state that only the analog tone probes (VDV500 - The number 60). The newer and better 060 model probe cannot be purchased without spending more than two times as much as this newer and better model. Are there any things I am missing Using a cable tester for more than one brand is too confusing. Why is Klein not able to design probes for more than one brand of Although the light is a nice feature, I don't think the sound quality is as great as it should be.

A clear and unmistakable signal is produced as soon as the tool is connected to the earth and phase of a wire. Despite the number of wires in a 4 gang box, I was able to make this tool work. Wires can be instantly identified when they are in sight. * Please note that I did not check the tool's performance when detecting.

The toner itself is fine, but the speaker on the wand is terrible. It is necessary to physically touch the wire for tone to be heard, even when the volume is nearly all the way up. If you have ever toned cable, you know how frustrating it is to try and find wire in a rack full of patch panels or in bundles of cable. Although earphones will provide a louder and clearer sound, you may still have to plug in the cable for them to work. Yet, that does not change the fact that this speaker is garbage. The speaker in my old wand had failed, so I bought this new one to replace it. We were unable to get a one because the speaker was weak.
