The wire on the inside is 1. 28mm is a smaller gauge than 16 gauge. It's not even close to 1. For 14 gauge, 6mm is the recommended thickness. In my review, there is a photo.

I placed an order and received it, but instead of the dual ended alligator pictured and described, I received an alligator clip on one end and a banana post on the other. I figured it wouldn't be a big deal if I exchanged them, and they'd get it right the next time. Nope. I returned it for a refund the second time and switched to a different company. On the bright side, the quality appeared to be satisfactory.

With these, I was able to discharge a CRT

This is not something you should try at home! With these and a screwdriver, I was able to discharge a 15kw CRT. This is where these come in handy. Of course, only attempt this if you are completely confident in your abilities. As an added precaution, I wore rubber electrically insulating gloves.

The exact look of the clips was the reason I bought it. It's for a specific reason that I require it. It works. They can be adjusted to suit your needs. It's nearly too gentle. Follow the instructions on the package. Because they get hotter than the other brands I have, I believe they have a higher resistance than the others. But I haven't actually measured it, and the experiment in which I used it wasn't very well controlled.
