The bracket is the only part that is made of stainless steel. After only four months, the blades were severely rusted. The thickness of the rust degrades the accuracy of a fine feeler gauge. br>It's only a couple of dollars, but you get what you pay for. I should've realized what I was getting myself into.
I wish I'd read the other reviews before making my decision. This is not made of stainless steel. Despite being dripping in smelly machining oil, it had already started to corrode when I opened it. Because the feelers are stamped and rolled on the edges, they will never be able to provide precise measurements. It's all a load of nonsense.
I can't read the numbers on the gauge I got, and given the scratches, I'm guessing it's been used until the numbers faded away. I requested a replacement to see if I could get a new one with numbers that I could read.
I needed stainless because I'm working with electromagnetic brakes, so these aren't stainless steel. As a result, whenever the break is activated, these cars want to pull over.
These aren't feeler gauges made of stainless steel. Mine rusted soon after I removed the oil coating that was on them when they were delivered. I cleaned them in a vinegar bath to remove the rust, but if you want stainless steel, look elsewhere.
In the description, there aren't all of the sizes. Only reaches a maximum of zero. 025". What a waste of time and resources.
For tooling, I needed some Shim Stock of a very specific type. I'm not sure why it didn't occur to me earlier. Fe 96 was what I was looking for. 09, Co 2. 01 Mn 1. 15, Si 0. Ti 0, 047. 21, Cr 0. Cr = 0 and 045. 059 and the material used to make this feeler gauge seemed to be a perfect match. Any metal saw blade can be used to cut this material.
This far exceeded my expectations and is correct to the letter. According to a caliper I used to check the gauges, they were 001 or 1/1000th of an inch off, not even a digit off. Wear gloves if you don't want to get sick from the anti-biotics. The smell of rust oil coating is unpleasant, and it takes several washes to remove it from your hands.
