This device is incredible! It is easy to move around. The lock is fantastic! I purchased two different ones to compare quality, and this one far outperformed the other. I also bought one for my father as a present. I would strongly suggest it.
My best friend works as a contractor, and he had a 5 inch version of this that was a pain to use. I gave it to him as a birthday present, and he freaked out! He put it on right away and looked like a small child on Christmas morning. He claims that this is the best version of a tool of this type he has ever used. Thanks to the Contour, I got to see him make some impressive cuts. He was also taken aback by how well it closed.
This is a useless piece of garbage. br>I was working on reinstalling some new flooring when I noticed the pinched lock function on this unit. This thing starts to shift when you pinch it. It's stuck in the wrong position.
I would recommend this item because it is true to size.
But don't forget to check out Saker. This is the first time I've used it, and it's fantastic. When my fingers are unlocked, they move freely, and when I lock them down, they are _almost_ as tightly held as I'd like. I used it for a few minutes on some kitchen renovation tasks that I wish I'd had when I was doing them. (This was one of those sadder-than-usual occasions. ) but- The angled contact surfaces, for example, show that a lot of thought and/or use testing went into this. ) I'm very pleased with the product for the price. br>br>One thing I didn't notice before buying was that the lock's tightness can't be adjusted, so you can't compensate for wear or manufacturing tolerances as the lock is used. If there were, I'd fiddle with it to see if there was a happy medium setting that held the fingers just a little tighter when they were locked. Saker also sells a similar tool on Amazon, with the exception of product labeling and a set-up fee. On the end opposite the lock, adjust the tightness of the screw. I'm tempted to return this and get the Saker version, which costs nearly twice as much as the RAK. I'm not sure how well that adjustment works, but I'm tempted to return this and get that instead.
I don't think it's deep enough for my needs.
050 inch; The maximum depth is only one. 22 inch. I bought several different brands of contour gauges that looked similar to this one, many of which (including this one) claimed to have the best accuracy due to their tiny teeth. 20 teeth per inch, 050 inches thick br>I believe sellers make these false claims because they assume (correctly, in most cases) that customers will not use a caliper to check the thickness. The teeth on this gauge, like all the others, are thicker, though this brand has the thinnest teeth of any I measured: br>br> 1. 055" / 055" 4 mm (approximately 18 teeth per inch) The vast majority of those who claim to have "0. Teeth with a thickness of 050 in" were at least 1/16" (0. The thickness is 063") br>br>Another disadvantage of this gauge is that its teeth are much shorter than those of most competing gauges. It will measure a maximum depth of one meter. At most, it'll be 22 inches (31mm). br>br>I'd rate it a 3. If I could, I'd give this gauge five stars, but four seems a little generous given that it doesn't meet the claimed specifications. br>br>However, if nothing else, it's probably a good indicator.
I would have gone with something a little more durable, but it works fine. It's of average quality. It contours objects using plastic fingers that are about 1/32" wide.
