This is a sub-Interapid indicator that is one of the best on the market. Three carbide contact points will be included. A height gage bar and two stems are included. That's a lot of attachments for $112 when you buy them as a package with a $105 indicator! It's worth $55 just for the contact points. This is ideal for use with a Noga fine-adjust spindle arm. You don't have a pivoting stem like Interapid. It is stationary, despite the fact that it has a similar dovetail mounted stem. As a result, it's not a good match for an indicol; the Noga, on the other hand, works much better because the fine adjustment helps center the travel. An Interapid, on the other hand, can simply be pushed into the bore's wall and set by hand, which is one of the reasons it's so good, plus it has a more generous. 06" of travel This indicator is still fantastic when used correctly, and it is very smooth and precise. It isn't quite as precise as Interapid, but it's close. Mitutoyo is, in my opinion, the most reliable brand across the board, and it costs half as much as a best test. Tesa May has her own dial, which is brown and sharp. Verniers could be owned by Starrett. Mitutoyo owns digital, but everything they make is high-quality Japanese-made, and out of all those big names, it's the only one you can tell where it was made without having to do some detective work.
You get what you pay for, as the old adage goes. This is a good-quality indicator with a nice size dial and interchangeable tips at a reasonable price. It's what I use on my Sherline mill to indicate that everything is correct. It's a lot of fun to use. I strongly advise spending the extra money to get quality rather than cheap knockoffs.
What am I supposed to say? Mitutoyo is known for producing high-quality equipment. I'm not a machinist, but a HD mechanic at home. This seems to be accurate and works well for me.
There does not appear to be any adjustment to the measuring tip. The directions are a little hazy. If the tip position is adjustable, I'm stumped as to how to change it. SAD.
I have never owned a better dial test indicator. Even cheaper imports, including Swiss products, are not worth the money.
The previous one lasted 23 years before being stolen and crushed.
This is an excellent metric. a great deal for the money.
It's a lovely instrument, and I'm pleased with it.
