How Our Score Is Calculated

Product Description

By entering your model number, you can make sure that this fits.
With a 0 on the dial, this is a standard dial indicator. For measuring surface variations in fractional inches, this 375" diameter stem has a 4-48 UNF contact point thread mount and a white or black face.
There's a rotating bezel and limit markers, and the units are displayed in fractional inches.
For a variety of mounting options, choose between flat or lug back.
The stem design allows for a wide clamping range, there are no through screw holes in the frame for dust and water resistance, and the involute curved lifting lever allows for smooth spindle and dovetail joint movement for tool-free assembly.
For face and thread size, as well as bezel and stem diameter, it meets ANSI, Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) B7503-1997, and American Gage Design (AGD) standards.

Questions & Answers

Is there a lever to help you lift it? As stated in the description. It does not apply to "what's in the box." ?

Mine isn't equipped with a lifting lever, but I purchased it several years ago. It's possible that the more recent ones aren't the same.

What is the material of the bezel? Is it plastic or glass?

Plastic makes up the bezel.

How big is the storage container?

Mitutoyo's box has a height of 7 inches and a width of 7 inches. 6" L x 2" W x 6" L x 6" L 5 inches tall by 4 inches wide.

Is the indicator designed to withstand a shock?

If you go to Mitutoyo's website and look up the specifications in their catalog, you can find the exact number for that indicator.

This is ideal for my profession
5/5

Since opening my own shop, I've misplaced my old indicator setup for truing motorcycle wheels that I used in dealerships. I assumed my old one was a good indicator because it wasn't cheap when I bought it from our catalogs. I had hoped to find one "as good," but it appears that I have found one that is even better. Possibly a lot nicer. br>br>I'm not a machinist, so I can't comment on the quality in that particular setting, but this small indicator is as nice as any I've seen in my career. I took a chance and ordered it for around $40 from the "Amazon Warehouse," but it arrived with all of the paperwork and a fully functional indicator. If you're truing wheels, this unit might be a little nicer than you'll need. Having said that, I'm not dissatisfied with my purchase in the least. If you need an indicator for that, this one will suffice.

This is a great instrument
4/5

This metric appears to be well-constructed. It has the quality fit and finish that Mitutoyo is known for. I didn't have the opportunity to test the indicator's repeatability or accuracy, despite the fact that it came with a spec sheet. Passing a two-rev indication in under a minute. The precision is "001". The bezel ring, which is plastic, is the only flaw I have with the indicator. It zeroes very smoothly and has a good hold-position resistance. I compared the movement of the indicator to that of a Starret 25-point indicator. 441J indicator (which also has a plastic bezel ring), and I think the Mitutoyo is smoother and has less run out on the stem bore, but the Starrett has better plunger sensitivity. That is, of course, my personal opinion.

Nice Mitutoyo "2416S" Dial Indicator
5/5

This is the first time I've used a dial indicator of this caliber. I've been buying the less expensive HF versions because I needed something right away and the store was close by. It's the only dial indicator I've come across in this town. Is there a difference between a cheap Mitutoyo and a Mitutoyo? br>br>Is there a difference between a Mitutoyo and a cheap? without a doubt br>The motion is silky smooth, and the readings are consistent. On Amazon, I found some of the less expensive variants: I had to send it back because the readings couldn't be replicated. On a 1 2 3 block, I would assess the indicator. br>br>Intriguingly, I'm afraid to use the indicator on my lathe because I like it so much. It was for this reason that I bought it in the first place.

High Quality at a Reasonable Price Mitutoyo quality at a reasonable price
5/5

Silky smooth operation Last year, I paid a ridiculously low price for a cheap dial indicator set with magnetic base and extra spindles, and I got exactly what I expected. The low-cost magnetic base works fine, but the low-cost dial indicator is jerky and rough. The new Mitutoyo is compatible with all of the inexpensive accessories. I paid more than twice as much for just the Mitutoyo indicator as I did for the cheaper one, but it was well worth it. It gets two thumbs up!.

Accurate and well worth the investment! Based on the reviews, I decided to purchase this dial indicator to replace the very cheap dial indicator that came with my expensive table saw blade alignment fixture
5/5

I made the necessary adjustments to my saw based on the readings on the dial indicator, and they were all correct. Several different table saw cuts were used to verify the adjustments, which were then measured with a digital caliper. I was finally able to align my table saw blade and RIP fence perfectly. The money was well spent on this dial indicator.

These are a few of the most effective travel indicators available
5/5

These are a few of the most effective travel indicators available. I've used nearly every brand of indicator in my career as a professional machinist, and I've found these to be the smoothest and most accurate. They've also outlasted everyone else in terms of durability.

This is an excellent indicator from a manufacturer who knows what they're doing
5/5

I was able to get a good deal on this great indicator. It came with everything you need to get started and works perfectly. I wish it included limit markers, but it appears that only the metric version does.

Everything worked perfectly when it arrived
5/5

Everything arrived in perfect condition. I've always wanted one of these, but couldn't justify spending $120 on a travel indicator. This one was on sale for 47 dollars, so I snatched it up! After I bought it, it immediately dropped to 80something, but that's still a lot better than MSC or whatever. This is something I really enjoy.
