On the back, there's a flange with a 5/16 hole for mounting on an adjustable arm or a magnetic base.
So it appears that this question has already been answered; the options are for visibility; the white face version stands out a little more, and thus the price is higher due to demand; this has nothing to do with racism or affirmative action.

The plunger's end is tapped from the inside. You can use whatever tip you want as long as it matches the thread on your tip. I have no idea what that thread is about. That information would have to come from Fowler.

Fowler was once regarded as a leading supplier of precision tools. This indicator belongs to the low-cost Chinese junk category. The tool was just delivered to me. I went to my store to see what was going on. As I approached the one-inch mark, I realized that the. The needle on the 010 indicator was off by a factor of. 050 in. It was impossible for me to believe what I was hearing. I double-checked a few more times, and the tiny needle, the, was still there. The 010 indicator loses a significant amount of its value. Every rotation of the has a value of 005. Indicator number 001 Fowler needs to return to making high-quality tools in Massachusetts (which was misspelled on the box).
As previously stated, I intend to use this to set up and/or re-configure my system. I needed a way to calibrate table saws, jointers, planers, fence systems, and other machines, and I didn't want to spend $1xx or more on it. This isn't a Starret or a Mitutoyo, but it's more than enough for my needs. I'm using a Noga arm to check for flatness on various surfaces. br>br>Advantages - Repeatability is a plus. It goes back to the point where it was "zeroed. " The plunger has very little play and the dial action is smooth. br>br>Cons - If you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, this is the place to be. No, because the plunger has some lateral play, it can't be expected to be perfect. It's also not perfect, but I haven't found the dial indicator yet. br>br>I'm very pleased with the price when compared to the competition. At this time, the performance ratio is.
This has been a source of dissatisfaction for me. I purchased two at the same time. The crystal and turnstile came off after only 3 months of use, and the other was just to have. So I took the second one out of my bag. And, sure enough, it did the same thing. Now, to be clear, I've had an indicator for three years that's been in perfect working order. It's from a different, less expensive brand.
I am a hobby machinist who does not require Starrett-type accuracy. level of quality (or Starrett-level of quality) (price level). This is a tool I'll only use once in a while, not on a daily basis for years. As a result, so far, I'm pleased with this tool. (I'll give you a long list. ) In the future, there will be a long-term update.
The dial indicator's face isn't identical to the one you'll receive. The small hand dial spins twice as fast as a regular dial. 5 is the first rotation, followed by 6 for the second. It's supposed to be a 0 value.
br>I had expected so much more from Fowler, but it lasted the same amount of time as a cheap Chinese-made product. I suppose it's time to move on.
There is no better indicator of what you pay for than this. Although the fit and finish differs slightly from a much more expensive brand such as starter or Brown and Sharpe, this indicator performs admirably. In my job as a machinist, I use mine almost every day; the black dial face with white lettering is very easy to read, and I've had no issues with accuracy.
I really like this plunge indicator because it makes working easier. Setting up times are always faster when you use good, accurate indicators!.
