It consists of the B120A and B120A-X The dials of the 6 dial caliper are made by Starrett It consists of A line of precision measuring tools from the United States. In my experience, Chinese-made woodworking tools are perfectly satisfactory (I have a fractional lathe To be added to or subtracted from Although it uses a . 001" caliper, it is certainly designed and manufactured to a higher level of accuracy than a factional-caliper With a caliper of one inch, we can measure to one-fourth of an inch. I have seen that my new caliper provides accurate results to a thousandth of an inch based on my first trials using feeler gauges, drill bits, and other accurately machined items. I think this is a really good measuring device. Further proof that you get what you pay for if you are willing to pay for it.
In general, the build quality was good, aside from three minor issues. In the upper jaws, there was. We are off by just 2 torus. A plastic shield covered the dial (I was worried it would scratch), and a needle rubbed against one area of the dial, so it was obvious after a day of use if there had been wear. But, as I mentioned, the upper jaws were broken. We are off by 0. 002 thou. A deal breaker like that would make a difference. A refund was requested for the returned item. It is not worth the price if you have to deal with all the issues. I have pairs that are one third the cost that provide accurate measurements when using.
It has been a pleasure to use Starrett measuring tools for the last year. Their quality and accuracy are extremely good. You can't go wrong with Starrett when you want the best in measurement.
It seems that these calipers are well made. I did not expect them to be as smooth as they were. I checked it on both a 1/2" plug gage and a 1" block gage. In spite of several months, it has remained spot on. Unfortunately, they had to be sent in for repair after they were dropped and the tips of their jaws were damaged.
This is an excellent product. Thank you so much.
I like this tool very much. Any of the Starrett tools would be helpful.
Stainless steel parts are machined very well and they return to zero when you take them out. As soon as I set it up, I never needed to adjust it again. I can, however, only rating it 4 stars since it has cheap plastic lenses, a plastic lens case, and plastic needles that are roughly painted. In general, the caliper is a good value for its price.
In my job as a quality analyst, I inspect products for a manufacturer. It's just what I need, being an ISO 9001 (ISO 9002) and needing great tools to complement my daily tasks and this one is just right. Starrett sent me a 4" in the "global series" a month before I realized it was a Starrett piece. As far as I can tell, the global series is pieces of the machine made in the U. S. I could notice the difference when I saw them assembled abroad (and I could notice Whenever you have an issue with this caliper, don't take any chances. It's the real thing, manufactured and assembled here in the United States. I was searching for something like this, but this tool makes things a lot easier and feels much more durable, exactly what I was looking for!.
