The update is Replacing it with a more accurate one was straight forward. As far as I can tell, the instrument I received is not In this case, it is off by more than 3/1000 of an inch. Setting up the Veritias Setup Blocks is what I am doing. I use a larger block on the Mitutoyo to get more speed out of it. In addition to the fractional caliper, I am also measuring with it, and it is also much more accurate than the microcaliper. All block sizes can be turned on. Thanks. At 8, we received the dial caliper It was scheduled to begin at 00PM, but instead started ahead of time. The box was opened on the kitchen table, and the moment I removed the caliper from sealed package, I noticed that the lens was cracked. A return authorization was requested. It would have been a good idea to get another black face caliper, but the price went up My order was for a white face caliper because my 00's are up. While I am troubled by the fact that Mitutoyo's product could have been defective, I will try again and do my best not to open the sealed package until I have checked.

These calipers have been in my possession since April 2018, and the needle fell off the dial today, in November 2019. The performance has been decent up to now, although not as smooth as it should be for a $100. My rating of two stars is based on the fact that it provided 19 months of service, but for that kind of money I really expected an heirloom quality product. Then I ordered from Grainger. I started with Amazon. There were five sets of calipers I received in total. The first four, two from Amazon and two from Grainger all had cracked dial covers. My order finally arrived cracked. I made sure to include a note to Grainger to check it before shipping and I received it without a crack. The set I have is made in Brazil, and I have not had any issues with Japanese goods so far.

A crack was found on one of the boxes. I wasn't impressed by anything else as well. My impression was that they were a bit cheap. Refunds will be given if I return the items.
