I've been a Carpenter Superintendent for 45 years and specialize in stair construction!! These gauges are extremely accurate and aid in the layout process. This is the second pair I've bought! This is something I would suggest to anyone!.

This is an excellent resource

These should be preferred over the other available layout gauges. The only drawback is that they are prone to breaking. It is recommended that they are made of stainless steel.
