I don't consider this to be professional quality. This product is not sold by Fluke in the U. S. The job of a professional electrician is not this. For a Hobbyist, it's a decent tool. Leaving it in your boat is a good idea. The kind of stuff you mentioned is OK here. I found that it must detect voltage well, but the repeat ability was too slow to detect Ohms. This makes me somewhat sceptical of the reading it looks like a ghost reading to me. If you Ohm the same part three times it will give you a different reading each time after it settles down after a few It is a great meter and works well. Purchase the 107 pocket meter instead of this one. I was testing the 107 out as a pocket meter.

I didn't expect such an outcome from a fluke. As for the meter, I wasn't looking for a high end unit for the application yet but because of the fluke name and almost $100, it gave me some hope. To begin with, this was an open box. If not a customer return, it was at least a I noticed that the display would bounce all over the place when in the voltage mode. There's no reason to be surprised if the voltage shows up and goes down in a flash when set at a sensitive level, but this was all over the map. This one was sent back so I replaced it with an Innova for $25 that does exactly what my Fluke 87 does within a hundredth of a volt. The Fluke warranty may prove impossible if the model is not intended for use in the US market, and the model may not have been designed for use in the US market.

When it arrived, the Fluke 107 was in great shape and had been shipped within three days. These batteries are already installed, and they are from Energizer. The Fluke C-1000 did not come with a case, but I did purchase one A soft case for the Fluke 101 intended for the DMM 101, but will work with the fluke 106/107 with the leads and cables. However, it does not fit when accompanied by the magnetic smart strap. Using it on a desk or propping it up for long periods of time isn't a big deal to me since I seldom use it. A concern I have as a diesel mechanic/technician is whether the hard shell is rugged enough to sustain long-term use.

The Fluke 73 I currently have is too large so I'm looking for something smaller with a backlit In my opinion, the Fluke 117 is the best, the only downside is that it is big and The 107 sounds compact and provides some features you won't find in the 117, but it's cheaper and does some things better as well. Obviously, it is still expensive for a basic meter, but a Fluke is a very good meter. So far, it's been great, except for the goofy stand that comes with it. If the stand had been built in like the others, that would have been nice. There's a solid feel to it, and you may be able to tell it's a Fluke when you turn the dial. The decision was made without regret.

For the majority of the troubleshooting that I do, the fluke meter I receive from my employer is more than sufficient. It may seem strange to have to spend money on something that is already provided on the jobsite, but the ease of use with this little guy makes it a worthwhile investment. there was anything I would change, it would be to make the continuity tone louder, to add leads just like the other meters, and to put a regular magnetic strap on it. It was about 20 years since the old RadioShack meter died, so I figured I needed a new one. I figured as an adult looking for a proper tool that I would go Fluke, but not a high-end model, but a nicer and more respectable one. That's what the 107 is all about.
