Having the ability to order things of this nature from Amazon is very convenient. Find a supplier that sells metal in full length pieces, rather than finding those who sell metal in full length.

The best raw material is not as good as a shaft

The rod is designed with loose parameters, therefore it cannot be used as a shaft. However, it does make an excellent raw material, should you wish to use it to make things. My purchase of this rod was for use as a shaft for a buffing setup, which I paired with a set of pillow block bearings, also found Although their dimensions suggest they should match, as you can see in the photo, these products did not mesh well. If you want to purchase aluminum rod to cut up and make things, then this is the right option.

It's just what I need. I thought this must-have item was a good one to have. My MT2 collet chuck mounts on a floor stand drill press, so I need a rod that I can cut to length, then lathe cut a sharp point on it so I can center the end mill bit to always be centered on.
