That is an excellent question. The small holes are designed to aid in the deflation of the lung bag after each breath is taken. Prestan drilled small holes in all sizes and quantities of their lung bags, as you can see.
This is compatible with all Prestan Adult size manikins, regardless of model. These are not compatible with Prestan UltraliteTM or any other brand of CPR manikin.
I'm not sure because I've been carrying this bag since 2016.

I teach CPR and have eight Prestan adult manikins in my inventory that simulate these lung-related scenarios. bags. I'm not sure why, but the quality of my lungs has recently deteriorated significantly. br>br>The most recent batch of 50 lungs had a total of 12 lungs that were unusable due to manufacturing issues. The "throat" of the bag was cut halfway between the "lung" part of the bag in each of the 12 cases. All of the cuts were identical in location, size, and machine accuracy, indicating that this was not a simple case of quick damage, but rather a serious production issue. Because the lungs could not be inflated properly due to the cuts, they could not be used in the training environment. The cuts can be seen in the photos attached. br>br>Of the remaining 38 lungs, every single one has a never-before-seen-before-seen-before-seen-before-seen-before-seen-before-se before- The bag's throat has a hole that can be seen. This hole is present in all of the lungs, but it is not present in any of the remaining lungs from previous orders. I'm not sure if this is due to another production issue or a new design, but if it is, none of the instructors with whom I work can explain why. The issue is that it makes it much easier for breath, especially moisture, to get inside the manikins' bodies, and while the manikins are meticulously cleaned, the foam that makes up the chest can never be completely cleaned, so it's an obvious long-term bio-hazard. issue. br>br>Unfortunately, because we own the Prestan manikins, we're stuck with using Prestan lungs, but if you're not in the same boat as us, I'd suggest waiting and seeing what happens. Because I'm stuck and will have to order more at some point, I'll update this review, for better or worse, as events unfold.
You barely open the bag for the mouth and it tears down the sides. It was a huge letdown.
Excellent product; exactly what my husband required for his CPR course.
Couldn't ask for a better deal on such a high-quality item.
Prestan Adult Manikin is a great match! It is simple to insert into the manikin's airway.
I like that these bags can be inserted without using a tool. They're a lot easier to use than the bags that came with my old mannequin, where I had to fight to keep them attached on a daily basis.
