Would it be possible for someone in the dental profession to test this by placing x-ray film behind the shield to see if it will block radiation?

A thyroid shield and an apron are provided to hospitals at no extra charge. Fluoroscopic Imaging is used to test the products' worthiness when they arrive at the hospitals then every year after that. Here is my attempt at answering

What kind of comfort does it offer? How is the top of the thyroid shield feeling? Does it feel like it encloses you in a choking chamber? Can it fold in the same manner as in the photograph?

This is a pretty comfortable chair. Luckily, the strap is adjustable using Velcro, so you don't feel choked by it. You can change how tight the strap is to adjust how comfortable The picture shows it folding down. It's actually possible for it to fold down.
